If you have a firewall on, the pics are blocked. Relax the settings on your browser.

The screens show that by switching the country, you can input Canada, and get reading in l/100km and temperature in C rather than F!

The user has exceeded his photobucket bandwidth allocation. Not sure if it resets daily or monthly.

However, why do this? I would much rather have everything react like the American model on my screen that the Canadian model.

You wouldn't believe how confused I was the first few days looking at pictures with 99.9MPG, when on the Canadian screen it's the opposite. With the metric system, you don't want bars going to the top of the screen.

Well if you want to switch to mpg, then you can switch yours from CAN to USA and it will switch to mpg instead. Or if you switch to Europe, then it will show temperature in Celcius and display economy in metric mpg!

Oh, just put the URL in google translate. The website translates nearly perfectly! This is funny, so far this seems to be a Canadian only thread! I thought states side would be interested given their second language is Spanish! LOL!

So you are saying you tried it and it converts your display, or did you mean that the google translate worked? Please confirm. As I have a gen 1, this does not seem to help me. Oh I wish someone could help me to find a way to do this to a gen 1 prius!!!!

I'm having issues with the Spanish or the translation.

Could someone post a summary of the steps required to do this?

    Many thanks

1- Actually, it's my opening line when I wander into my favorite Mexican Resturant!
    2- Google translates GREAT!!!
3- I can select km in the setup menu, when I tried it it stayed in the mph mode.

Yes, I suspect the poster of the instructions didn't actually try it. Nothing happens! Even the dealer can't change that.
For example, a Canadian buys a Prius in the US. The odometer reads miles. The Canadian government wants it to read km, but if it can't be changed then a sticker must be affixed that says it is miles. Many who purchased in the US tried to get the car switched to km to avoid the sticker, but dealers couldn't do it, even when they tried (many wouldn't try).
I suspect Toyota -could- switch it, but they (Toyota Canada) don't want us buying in the US, because they want to pocket the $5000 difference in price themselves.

Actually, I am told by a friend on the Prius Spain site, you have to hold down the SET button for 10 seconds. It will give a short beep, then longer beep. Hold display down to reset the screen and that is it. As I had indicated, I have not tried on my car as it does not work for Gen 1's, but I just thought I would share this with all of you. Maybe this works only on European Prius', although the screens look identical.

However, I am in the midst of getting my screen switched to metric by a Toyota dealer who got "special instructions" on how to do it. My car used to read in Celcius and l/100km then after a battery change, it went back the MPG. Apparently, its the only reason why they are doing this for me. Its originally a USA Prius, but when I bought it, the car read in l/100km. Coupled with the fact that I had pictures of me in the car with the display showing metric, did it for Toyota I guess! I did not mind the MPG readings at first, but reading temps in Farenheit is driving me crazy. I will let you all know when it has been done.

Frankly, I don't know how it was done originally, but it can be done. However, I am not confidant that I will see it. Based on my experience with Toyota's in general, I cannot believe that this simple feature is not a owner changeable feature. Quite frankly, its silly, but not suprising given the same company that locks out Nav owners from the Override screen. My 2002 Neon can switch from Farenheit to Celsius, MPG to l/100km, miles to Kms, it even shows me distance to empty, AVG fuel economy, instant fuel economy.

I know its older topic but im strugling to change from MPG to L/100km.
I get in that second hiden menu and i hold SET for more than 10 seconds but no beep and no change from miles to kilometers.
Any other option to change that?

    Regards,
    Alen
