Yep. She used to post here on P.C., but she hasn't posted in almost two years. I hope she's well.

Speaking of dogs and god, a friend of mine had a dog named Godfrey. They always called him "God" for short. Anytime anybody said anything like "god knows" everybody would look at the dog, waiting for a reply. The dog, however, was wise enough to say nothing. He was a very old and arthritic golden retriever.

    *ROFLOL!!*

It's actually a quote that DH read to me from somewhere online. It made me laugh, so I grabbed it as my own. :p

Yes, I am the Resident Witch, as long it's understood that it means that I'm loving, kind, fair, ecologically focused, and always willing to help.

    Oh, and don't p*ss me off. ;)

well witch is technically the real term. witches back in the old day; before halloween and Wizard of Oz came along, were just people who had a better relationship with nature. they became known as the ones who "had seen it all and knew what to do" . the name slowly gained a negative connotation as they got the rep as being conjurers because they knew cure for all ills and could do it completely naturally with stuff they gathered in the woods (no comment on attire here) "modern" people who had migrated to the cities had lost touch with the natural cures. iow, if it did not come in a bottle with a label, they did not know what to do.

i simply prefer "naturalist" since it does not easily rhyme with other less appealing words

Makes perfect sense to me. I figure pagans dance naked in the forest in the same way that Christians go to church, except that most Christians don't actually believe anything they hear in church, while most pagans respect the forest.

I don't think witches of Rene's category do that. The witch in Weekend at Bernie's 2 does it, but that's Hollywood. I've always wondered, though, why neopagans and Wiccans and such choose a term ("witch") which has such negative connotations in the mainstream society.

I'd have a lot less respect for Rene if I thought that she believed she actually could turn somebody into a donkey. Though maybe I should reconsider that, since so many people are obviously jackasses that maybe there's been some witchery going on after all.

P.S. While I'm not a pagan, I do love and respect the forest. Also the sub-alpine and the alpine. And those amazing rock formations in the mountains, which never look like much of anything in my photos. And the sea. And naked dancing pagans, though I have yet to encounter any of those. I think they are mostly nocturnal, and I am a diurnal kind of guy.

Can you imagine when someone said "god damn!" if the dog stood up and said "I DAMN Thee!"

Actually, it was Christians who persecuted those that practiced the "old ways" in a move to control the population. They destroyed all native cultures they came into contact with for this reason.

    A NEWT?????

    Well....I got better...

Do you mean Godiva? Has it really been two years? That doesn't seem possible.

Yes, speak carefully. Somebody could turn you into a swizzle stick. :D

Nope. That dog hardly ever spoke. Maybe once a day he said "Woof," and that so seldom that it always took everybody by surprise.

Actually, I was thinking of Angela.

Would Pat object to being turned into a swizzle stick? Consider where a swizzle stick spends its life. I'm guessing Jay wouldn't mind at all being turned into a swizzle stick. :peep:
