There's platinum members, and below that there are gold members, and below that there are silver members, and below that there are bronze members. I'm below them.

    Re: Cool Cat

Back when Rubik's cubes first came out, my aunt and uncle gave me one. But to my annoyance, they gave it a number of twists before they handed it to me, so I was deprived of the opportunity to explore it gradually, as you might go a little ways into a cave and then come back out, mapping it little by little.

So when they were out of the room I disassembled it. Rubik's cubes come apart easily. And I re-assembled it to its starting position. They came back into the room five minutes later and they thought I was a genius.

I never could "solve" the thing, though. I spent a lot of time going a little ways in, and back out. But properly mixed, it was a complete mystery to me. It's surprising, though, how many people do not know the cube can easily be disassembled and put back together, so you can convince most of the world that you can solve it, providing you can get it out of their sight for a minute or two.

For me the 70's were a fun time of coming-of-age, wacky misadventures, etc. But that Rubik's Cube almost ruined it for me

It must have REALLY messed up the 70s for you considering it debuted in 1980.

I was on a high all through the 70's. That one innocent little xmas gift completely ruined it.

Don't get me wrong, I still fiddle with a Rubik's Cube. But never, ever give one to a young teenager who still has/had simplistic and optimistic visions of the future
