I have a 2006 Prius and last week the driver's side window won't stay all the way up. When you raise the window it goes all the way up, but than reverses about an inch or so. To get it closed, I have to raise the window in 2 or 3 tiny increments until it is almost in the track and than one final time to keep it up. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Here is the Power Window Reset Procedure. Sometimes the Prius does not remember where the top position is. Doing the reset procedure will resolve this issue.

Initialization procedure when the power window does not fully open or properly close:
    (1) Turn the power switch on (IG), or hold POWER for 5 seconds.
    (2) Fully close the power window by fully pulling up the power window button, and hold the button for 6 seconds or more after the window is fully closed (if the power window does not move or stops halfway even when the switch is fully pulled, release the button and fully pull it again).
    (3) Fully open the window by pushing down the power window button, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the window is fully opened.
    (4) Release power window button. Then fully push down and hold the switch for 4 seconds or more.
    (5) Fully close the power window by fully pulling up power window switch, and hold the switch for 1 second or more after the window is fully closed to reset the glass position and complete the initialization.

    I hope this helps you!

Perfect! It worked! Thanks! I am afraid to guess what that would have cost at a dealer for 30 seconds of work.

MODERATOR: This one needs to be a STICKY in the tech forum (or don't we have a "tips" sticky that it could go in?). I haven't run across this before (although it certainly could be out there in the thousands of posts).

    Thanks!

BTW, whenever you disconnect the 12v battery (or it goes dead and needs to be replaced) you should reinitialize the power window.

I am so glad this worked for you! It happened in my Gen 1 one time, and my good friend at Erin Park Toyota sent these instructions to me by email on how to do it. It saved me $75!!

I was going to suggest Viagra. Good thing someone else posted first.

Great advice! Before reading this I tried everything you mentioned - EXCEPT holding the POWER switch/button for 5 seconds. Added that to the routine and it worked first time. Thanks! (P.S. Impressed the hell out of my wife...yes!)
