303 Aerospace Protectant looks awesome on Black plastic trim

    303 Aerospace Protectant looks like the solution to problems I've had detailing black plastic exterior trim. I know the sun just beats on a car. I spend time waxing, but don't spend as much time detailing exterior trim.

    Note - I don't work for 303 in any way, nor do I sell their product.

    First, the 303. I bought an 8 oz. bottle, $4.99 US + tax at an auto parts store 5 miles from my house. The 'chain' auto parts stores never carry it and that boggles my mind why not.

    It was very easy to spray onto a cloth, then wipe onto black trim such as the big piece under the windshild wipers, between driver's passenger's windows, the strips on roof, etc...

    I wiped it dry after a while. I looked at it again this evening and it looks fabulous! It gives a 'very black' appearance on the trim with a slight satin finish. Not glossy, not flat. I do mean very black which looks great. If it holds up for a long time looking like this, 303 is THE goooood stuff!

    The first product I tried on exterior black plastic was Meguiar's Natural Shine vinyl & rubber protectant. Says it's for use on dashboard and trim. This does well on tires, but fails miserably on black plastic trim - you must rub the devil out of it to make it look even, then it spots if water sprinkles on it, and runs if it rains.

    Meguiar's Supreme Shine protectant - I stopped using that stuff. They say it is for plastic, but my black plastic exterior trim started to get dull, with flat black finish ... and starting to look slightly gray after a few days! Surprising for a Meguiar's product.

    I'll let ya know if things head south with the 303 protectant, but from what I've heard, it's one of the best protectants available.

    Oh, and the tech rep from 303 who got on the phone last week was extremely knowledgable with technical details.

    I just got the 303 Aerospace Protectant to use on my car, too. I had to order it online, but thru a lot of research, thought it would be the best for the job. I'm glad to hear that you agree.
    I just rec. it and will use at the first opportunity.


    update: I tried it and I absolutely love it.....

    You missed the easiest one to find. Mother's Back to Black. Found on the accessories parts shelf at your local Toyota dealer and recommended for all black trim on Toyota cars & trucks. Works great.BTW, they all wash off.

    I passed that up for now. It was next to 303 on the shelf, but didn't like the strong chemical smell.

    I'd be willing to try it on my pickup to see how well it does. I'm trying 303 vs. Armor All on pickup.

    I use 303 Aerospace Protectant too and it works wonders. :)
    For all Canucks that maybe interested, you can buy it at your local Lordco branch. ;)

    I tried 303 for the first time today. (After heading straight to Lordco) Great stuff. The front wiper cowling in particular looks waay better. The only problem now is that it's going to take me days to use it on every plastic surface on the car. And - voice of experience speaking here - use the 303 first and then do the windows. :)

    I buy it by the gallon. Usually can find it at boat or RV places. I works really well on tires also, gives the same satin black look. The best part is it block UV.

    +1 I'll add my vote for the stuff. I love the not-too glossy look and it really is a great protectant. I also like Meguire's interior quick detail product, nice fragrance and does a nice job of dusting. Leaves a nice satin finish too. But best money is on the 303. If you have a different Japanese car with leather interior it's also good on that. European leathers are more raw and take up traditional leather conditioners well, but the leather in my Odyssey for example has more of a coating on it. 303 helps soften, clean and protect.
