They look exactly like the factory installed foglights from the outside. Other pictures (installation, etc.) have already been posted several times in this thread - by various members.

Dang, I now wish I had tried that trick. It might make more problems if you have to replace the light housing because the lens gets damaged.

As for the install difficulty, I've got experience working on cars and electronics, and that was really beneficial. I took maybe 20 hrs total on the install, much of that in just thinking about the next step in the process (the old "measure twice - cut once" philosophy). There was extra time prior to the weekend just looking at the wire harness and thinking thru the installation. I've got chronic bursitis in one shoulder and managed not to put myself in intense pain in the install process despite the body twisting to get under the dash. However, I don't think I would have tried it without hawkmoon77's pathfinder pictures.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The OEM lamps from Toyota install exactly the same way, without any clips. Just slip into the slots, and them one screw to hold the lamp in place.

But Jim, that is a great idea. Wish I'd done it, too!

I tried adjusting my new fog lights last night. I think I had the Phillips screwdriver engaged in the adjuster but it wouldn't turn. I'm going back on the ramps to get a look.

I'd suggest that others try out the adjuster screws before installing the lights, if only just to "break them in".

Good point. The covers are next to impossible to remove once they have been installed (other than by cutting them out). However, those 2 black push pins can be easily pushed back out. That, plus removing the screw that holds the foglight to the cover - and then disconnecting the cable harness, and out comes the foglight while the cover stays in place.

Jim, did you need to cut the "blanks" out? (?!!?) The covers pop out the same way the blanks did - you do need to know where to apply pressure to the clips - but they do pop right out once you do.

No, I was able to remove the dummy covers (uncut) without much effort, and of course the 4 tabs that grab either the fake cover or the real cover are the same. However, accessing those tabs is a lot easier during removal with the dummy covers than it is with the real covers.

Snapping in the new covers was a breeze, but why did I want to remove one? Here is the scenerio:

My idea about the push fasteners occurred AFTER the driver side light and cover were already installed, and I installed the passenger side push fasteners on my workbench BEFORE installing the light/cover combo. THEN I tried removing the driver side cover and light in order to do the same - but found the cover to be almost impossible to remove, and was afraid if I messed with it much longer I would break off one of the tabs and/or scratch the paint.

So I just left that cover installed, removed the light, and was able to drill out those two holes with the cover installed (fortunately there was just barely enough room under there for my drill). After that I re-installed the light, screwed in the screw, installed the two push fasteners, and connected the cable harness.

I really like the look. Much, much better than the fake ones.

RE the fog light adjustment: I put my car on the ramps this evening and realized that I'd been using the wrong screwdriver for the fog light adjustment. A 10 inch long, #2 Phillips is just about perfect when the vehicle is on the ground (I'd been trying a #3).

Where else can you get the covers for the fog light install? I have been searching through the parts.com site with no luck. No parts for a 2010 year model, and no covers in the accessories section!

Parts.com has them but you have to use the part numbers. I just ordered some and they are with UPS as I write this. The numbers you need are as follows:

    81482-47020
    81481-47020

Enter those numbers in the part number bucket and they will show as Fog Light covers.

Thanks, R-7 for the earlier posts with all the part numbers and detail and discussion. Thanks to all the Fog Light Pioneers that explored this and posted their findings. I'm considering doing the project in stages. First the covers and the lamps to rid the car of the fugly grey plugs, then work on the wiring to actually use the lights.

BTW: I just ordered the fog light covers from parts.com. Parts and shipping came to $76.61. It is a bit tricky to find the parts by search at the site. You must enter the part number and Toyota in the search boxs to get there. Word searches or accessory search didn't work for me.

Has any one considered using the Yaris Kit for the harness and switch and using genuine Prius fog lights? Cost is vastly different, so I can't believe the quality is the same on the e-bay Yaris whole kit for $44 shipped, and the Toyota part 81210-0D041, 81220-0D041 lights alone costing $225. Or is the markup that much for Toyota?

I don't think there is a difference, other than price. I've looked at both (my Prius III with the Yaris lights installed next to a Prius V with the factory installed lights). They look exactly alike to me. Am I missing something?

I also was thinking the e-bay kit because of price but ended up getting the oem lamps. I started to envision water getting into the lamp housing and lenses that may be alittle thinner than oem, etc.

Took them out of the box and was surprised to see that the lenses are glass! Not sure if that's a good thing but atleast it somewhat justifies the added cost.

That said, I'm up to $355.00 for lamp housings and fog lamps alone!

The rest of the parts I'll be needing to complete the install "shouldn't" costs much more......

The lights in the Yaris kit I ordered looked pretty similar to the Toyota versions. However, the front glass looked thin on the eBay ones I got and mine were also not marked DOT, so they are technically not legal. I'm not worried about a ticket, as they are no brighter than stock, but an astute annual inspection technician might fail it over the lack of DOT markings... at least here in MA, my local inspector is VERY nitpicky.

Would the Yaris kit connectors work on the Toyota lights? I wouldn't save much using the Yaris kit and the Toyota lights, but I wouldn't need to buy the $100 steering wheel stalk. I like the switch idea better and I would prefer to use the DOT certified Toyota lights.

Could anyone post a side to side comparison to the Yaris kit lights and the Toyota ones on the Prius V? I'd hate to buy cheap then have to buy again when the cheap fails.
