Good luck with the dealer. My attempt failed (as so many other's have too) -- they heard nothing. Please keep us posted on your developments. The more owners that complain the better...

my squeaking now occurs almost always so my dealer should most likely hear it once I take it in for my 5000 mile service.

I'd also like for us to all start complaining to the same person. From many of the posts here, Toyota reps are quick to not even acknowledge some of our complaints...would be much harder for them to dismiss our complaint as 'hearsay' if we should all begin complaining to the same rep.

Yes I have the Same problem!! squeek squeek, it's embarrassing. It seemed to have started shortly after i purchased the car, and it HAS gotten a little worse..

It seems to squeek all the time now.. So IRRITATING!!

I now have 5828 miles. It sounds like maybe a steel clip attached to the brake pads is rubbing on the rotor.. But, as others have noted, it's not entirely rythmic, it seems to skip a squeek every now and then.

I WENT TO THE DEALER.. THEY SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE EVERY OTHER PRIUS.. DIDN'T OFFER TO DO ANYTHING!!!!

Can you try another dealer? You may wish to email toyota care to have them confirm the dealers statement.

    Hey HI!

Nah, I've given up on Customer Care, although I still think it's important for people to make the initial call to them so that each incident is logged with Toyota. I got a really bad taste in my mouth from that Customer Care rep referring to my problem as "hearsay" -- the prick.

I'm due for an oil change in about 900 miles, so I'll, for the second time, bring it up with the service rep. Not at all confident that it will be resolved.

You know, it may not really matter to others that have the same squeaking problem, but this squeaking noise really is the low point in my day. It stinks.

    How about you? Any news?

If you heard the sqeak and told the CS rep, it is not "hearsay!" Tell the prick to go look up the word and get an education.

Yeah, I've pretty much accepted the fact that it's going to squeak. I keep hoping that one morning I'll drive off and be surprised that it doesn't, but....
Like you, I've been told by Customer Care that there's no validity to my claim/complaint. So, I guess I'll wait until service is due on my car, which ins't for a while, to have it checked again... probably to be told that the problem doesn't exist and that I'm crazy.
In the meantime, I'll just crank up the tunes. Ignorance is bliss... :(

    No. Not yet.

    But I just passed 2k.

And it makes all kinds of sounds I am not accustom to hearing in a car. But squeeking is not one of them.

    Re: Brake Noise

Without hearing the noise your explaining, it's hard to tell. It has a metallic rubbing sound, as someone said, similar to a subway car slowing...or in a rail yard? That sound is typically normal. But if your not used to it, it may seem odd, but get it checked if your concerned and let us know how you made out at the dealer. ;)

    Re: Brake Noise

On the dvd that comes with the car, there a section which will allow you to hear all the sounds which are normal with the Prius. Check it out and let us know if you can identify your sound on there.

Own an '05 and have same problem..my guess is it is the brake pads/rotors. Does not seem to be a problem for the car.Toyo must be aware if this many people are having the same situation.

I called the Toyoyta customer line a few weeks ago and complained about my low-speed squeal problem, hoping to help the effort to build a record with Toyota about this problem, and to help generate a TSB. They contacted my dealer (Burien Toyota), and a customer support person called me from there to set up an appointment to bring the vehicle in. Also, the service rep told me he had another 2010 with the same problem and wanted to learn more about it from my vehicle.

I took the vehicle in this week, deliberately leaving with them overniht to maximize the chance of hearing the noise. THEY DIDN'T HEAR IT (&%$#@). However, they took the front brakes apart, "roughed up" the rotors and pads to help the pads re-seat on the rotors, and they applied anti-squeal compound behind the brake pads. This is something I would have tried myself if the vehicle wasn't under warranty.

It's been a few days now and no low-speed squeals, but the weather here has turned wet which may also mitigate the problem. Overall, I'm pleased with the way Burien Toyota treated the problem and me.
