Power Seats?

Cost_NO. There are a lot of us that would have paid whatever they asked.

Those paying $4000+ for the SR package wouldn't cry over a little more for Power Seats. I would have rather had the power seats as the NAV. But bottom line I would have bought both.

 

I wonder if it has to do with the placement of the DVD/GPS deal? There's not much clearance between the bottom of the seat and that unit.

 

I have power seats in my Camry and they are well worth having, especially when you frequently switch driving with your wife. I want power seats available when we buy a 2011 Prius package iv with solar roof.

 

I miss my memory power seats. Wife sits pretty straight up, and if she forgets to put the seat back, I get stuck trying to get in. I have to fumble out, push the seat back, and to get back in again.

 

I really wish basic (without memory) power seat is standard or available as an option. With everyone in my family trying out my prius, it's the first comment they can't find a power seat button. I'd rather get power seat option then bluetooth.

 

One way to know might be to remove a Camry power seat, weigh it and compare with a 2010 seat with power lumbar.

Some said the Gen2 Prius did not get a seat height adjuster due to excess weight.

I bought a used 2007 Corolla seat with height adjuster but no airbag.
Weight = 42 lbs.

My 2009 Prius seat w/ airbag weighed in at 39 lbs.

 

Power seats would have been nice. but, they really don't get moved that often for a single driver.

 

I take most of their comments as BS. Such as the added weight of the sunroof on the V. Not that I wanted it anyway, but an extra 60# and 1 mpg less FE would not bother people that wanted the option.

I understand the power seats are a costly option, but it doesn't make sence for a manufacturer to say they don't offer an option because it's costly. The cost are things that should be considered when offering standard features. (They can't seriously be concerned about cost when they are selling a $4000 sunroff package) I've got a plasma cluster and water resistant side windows that certainly added some cost, in materials and assembly and it didn't stop them from adding it.

So bottom line to me is when they say added cost, it's NOT in the seat and motor itself, it has to be in the design of the car and altering it for this option. (IE: ran out of room for the motor without a complete redesign of the floor pan and moving the stuff that is there now or altering the design of the thin back seats.) I can't imagine though that their designers couldn't have found a way to accomidate this if they had it as a design goal from day 1. Maybe they need the 250h designers to lend a hand.

Obviously I have not drank the Toyota Kool-aid.

 

In fact, there is a Prius with the power seats. It is called Lexus .

 

Some toyota/lexus models have 'em in the rear/trunk area, so toss that out as a decent alibi
