    Sometimes, they do it very poorly

    CBC News - British Columbia - Big cleanup after massive truck collision in Rockies

    But that's ok, instead of having divided 4 lane highways, proven to be much safer, Canada's *major* east-west highway is 2 lane in some very dangerous areas (Rockies, that curvey area from just past Falcon Lake to near Thunder Bay)

    So a bunch of do-gooder money can be sent overseas

    "Trucker John St. Laurent told CBC that he saw the five trucks collide. Once he was able to stop, he said he immediately called out to other trucks using his radio, telling them to slow down coming around a blind turn.

    "It isn't so much the speed as the road condition. You can't stop," St. Laurent said."

    Translation: it was excessive speed for the conditions.

    At least Canada has too little population to create 50-vehicle pileups like we can.

    Although rare, they do happen. The QEW in the Toronto area has had some pretty nasty pileups

    Anywhere... in the centre yellow line or the concrete posts. There are no markers whatsoever on straightaways.


    Climbing that narrow narrow 14-corner mountain east of Golden at night was scary. You'd see the lights at the side of the semi coming towards you, then it disappears then re-appears then disappears then you meet up with it. It is 14 blind corners and 20-30km/h MAXIMUM (and this is Highway 1... our cross-canada highway)

    I've been only west and south of there, and only in daylight. Will have to make sure my first trip to Banff (long overdue) is in daylight, and probably not in winter.

    Maybe this helps explain the number of Canadian plates I see on I-90.

    That would be good. I just made it as the week after I travelled through, it snowed all the way down to the valley floor (i.e. both Kelowna and Calgary got snow).

    Probably. the I-90 is faster by about an hour vs. the northern route around the Great Lakes. The northern route is about 100km shorter by distance.

    Of course. Factor in that even after the exchange, gasoline is quite a bit cheaper, it makes sense to cross over into the US - assuming you have a passport or NEXUS card - and take the journey that way

    As long as she doesn't take an hour to do her "business"
