I finally got the cargo net repair installed by my dealer this morning.
I brought the car in at 8:30am and was out by 9:15am.
It seems to be the identical installation that they started using on new incoming cars during August plus two plastic plugs to fill the holes in the liners where the original pick-ups were installed.

Well, I finally called the dealer where I bought the car and asked if they would repair it. "what's wrong with it?" was the reply... After explaining the problem they said they would 'research' it. So they call back a little later and tell me that they can order a repair kit for $24, and did I want them to order it.

Of course I wanted them to order it... but no-way would I pay for it. Another phone call later and they told me they had the kit and to come in, they would repair it under warranty. Case solved.

Hmm...well, the service department at my dealer (Manhattan Beach Toyota) had no idea what I was talking about. Does someone have the TSB (Toyota Service Bulletin) number?

hmmm, they should be able to look for the 'cargo net repair kit' but I'll try to get some numbers or nomenclature when I take it in. Others might know the TSB, if that's what it is.

Can you describe the look of the plastic plugs that were used to fill in the holes? Better yet, could you post pics of the same?

I'll try to take a picture of a plug, but is pouring outside today.
The part visible inside the car is like a shallow round head of a rivet. It is made of black plastic and is one inch in diameter.

    Update
After complaining to Toyota CS I was asked to go back to Manhattan Beach Toyota so the service manager can have a look at it again. After some consultation with a few people the guy comes back with a installation print out showing the correct way to install the net .He also said that the dealer I bought the car from installed the net incorrectly. And he stated that they cannot do the work under warrenty. The new set of instruction had come out end of July but I got my car June 11th. MB Toyota stated that I should go back to the dealer I bought it from. The dealer I bought the car from is about an hour drive from me.I would have to drive there for them to look at it ,then they would have to order the part, and I would have to go back to get it installed. I was not willing to give up. After another call to Toyota CS they found out that the net was installed at the port. This means that any Toyota dealer should cover the repairs. I will go back to MB Toyota and see what happens next.

PS .Im not sure about the PLUG fix. It may not look that good. Can someone post some pics ?

Here's my update on this issue. I am waiting for delivery of my V with ATP. I had asked the dealer to install the cargo net with the revised hooks after reading this post (I forwarded the post to him). The dealer told me that if I get the cargo net as DIO before delivery, it would be covered under the general 3/36 warranty. So I was waiting on it for a couple of days, and today I got an update that he got the TSB hooks/bolts but cannot obtain the cargo net itself. He said that he was informed by Toyota that they are redesigning the cargo net to apply less tension on the side panels.

I told him to skip the entire installation and that I'll wait for a final 100% fix from Toyota whenever it arrives later. I guess it's only a cargo net, and hopefully shouldn't matter to settle for a 1 year warranty instead of the 3/36.

Same here. I picked up my car from NJ two weeks ago without the net. But I now want to have a net. I called dealers around DC. No one has the net. Some say Toyota has problems with the net, and it will be available for order later. I will just wait.

By the way, I just noticed that my new V already has two screws in place for us to put the hooks on. I assume that when I order the net, they will give me two hooks in the package. I will just need to take the screws out and than use them to fasten the hooks in the same places. Please see post #78 in this thread for pictures.

They didn't go out of their way to understand or help. They pretty much blew me off, telling me to go find the TSB number (like I have access to these numbers?). Bit disappointing as this was the dealer I bought the car from and I believe I bought their extra super duper service contract. Not a great first experience with Toyota service.

Wow, my service department sure is looking pretty clueless about this issue. Odd because they are SO awesome on everything else. Guys, we're really a great team here but this "fix" seems a mystery to some of my service folks.
I'm sorry about that. I'm sitting here with my dealer principal (owner) at my desk right now, showing him this thread and he's ON it. OK? Chris, call me? I wish you'd have called me/come to see me when this was happening... thanks!

OK, how 'bout calling my dealer's service department? It's Toyota of Lompoc, California and the number is: (805) 736-1295.

Jason, I'd like you to give my Customer Relations Manager a call? Her name is Joy Anderson. Call our main line and ask for Joy -- and tell her I told you to call... ok? She will step in and solve this issue.

What many do not understand is that your selling dealer is the one with carte blanc to make you happy. A different dealer isn't able to get the replacement part(s) and labor costs FREE - unless there is a TSB# for the issue and right now, there isn't. That's why a different dealer would have to charge UNLESS you have called the national help line and set it up. That's what happens when a "fix" is relatively new and candidly, not a life threatening or urgent issue. They won't TSB a small potatoes issue like a mis-designed cargo net hook. ONly 2 in 10 Prius even get a cargo net installed from factory.

Thanks Dianne, will do, this repair should be covered under warranty because the net was installed at the port. This is what Toyota CS tells me. They are working with Manhattan Beach Toyota to resolve the problem.

Update: My dealer updated me the next day that they found a cargo net and will install it with the TSB hooks. Picked up the car Saturday, and the install looks good. Haven't load or time tested it yet, and will update again on how it's looking in a few months (if nothing goes wrong, or sooner obviously).

Are we saying there is no TSB??? I took mine in to Irvine (just the net - not even installed yet), and after finding the docs, they got the parts (two hooks), and installed them...

Ya I was going to come to MB Toyota today, but couldn’t make it. I have an appointment for Friday to see the Toyota factory reps at another dealership. Thanks for your help. Hopefully this will get solved then.

Does anyone have any pictures of the plugs used to fill the holes left by the original installation?
