Just installed them. Not difficult, but takes some time to line them up correctly and to the get the screws in. Agree that the offset screwdriver/wrench is the easiest way, so you don't have to take the rear wheels off. As posted earlier in this thread by Topkick, turn the front wheel to give more room and reuse the plastic screw-it works better than the one that comes with the mudflaps. The front flaps were easy due to the predrilled holes, it is the rear ones that take time to manually get the screws in.

Be aware that the front mudflaps are smaller, but hang much lower and once installed you only have 3.5 inches of clearance!! As if the previous low clearance wasn't low enough! Will have to be very careful on the speedbumps. Also, the back ones look like they could benefit from a second screw underneath to secure it better to the bottom of the car.

Not quite sure I understand the shape of the mudflap and why there is a slit for ?air to go through. I guess maybe to reduce the wind resistance and decrease the impact on the MPG? They do look nice and mine say they were made in the EEU (France specifically according to the packaging). Don't know why we can't get them easily in US. Danny is apparently working on that. They hopefully will keep some of the road construction I am driving through off the car! I don't want the day I spent detailing the car going to waste!^_^ Thanks to topkick for all the great photos and info. The pdf early in this thread was very helpful as they do NOT come with instructions. Enjoy!

Why would you assume that? The Gen II mud guards are under $50. Shipping from the U.K. is a chunk of change by itself.

Well, so far the only flaps we have seen are made in the EU. So assuming that is the only available source (not an unreasonable assumption at this point), they will need to be shipped from the EU regardless of who is retailing them. I expect that Danny would be able to get somewhat more favorable shipping terms buying and shipping in bulk (and maybe not by FedEx:D), but shipping will still be significant. In addition there will be shipping within the US to the end purchaser.

Presumptively he will also be paying close to the wholesale price European vendors are paying for the flaps. No reason he would get them cheaper. As the UK seller was probably targeting an EU market for the flaps (and was probably surprised to be deluged by orders from the US), I expect the flaps were already priced attractively for a market where they would actually be more readily available than the US. Danny would need to mark them up as well, so I wouldn't expect a significant difference in the wholesale or retail price of the flaps. The shop's pricing seems to be comparable to other web vendors of Toyota accessories.

In sum, the base price of the flaps is unlikely to be much different if they are sourced from the EU and the final price will likely depend on any economies in bulk shipping, although some of that will likely be eaten up by final US shipping to end purchasers.

The service from the UK was really pretty good. Personally, I wouldn't necessarily wait for the shop to get them in hopes of getting a significantly better price. Of course I could be wrong:D

Please keep in mind, I scientifically tested the EU mudflaps, and found something like a 8% increase in MPG. So, in addition to a slightly increased price, you likely pay it back in weeks.

A free market economy is a wonderful thing - until someone shows up with $20 mud flaps that give a 10% MPG increase, I'll keep mine...

You gotta stop posting this fake info :) This is the internet, not everyone can tell you're joking.

Regarding buying the flaps from PC, it sounds like it would just cost more and with PC's track record you'd have to wait weeks to get them in.

Being that a large order would be worth some money to the governement and is intended for resale, there will likely be a duty on the imported items. So with the regular wholesale rate plus shipping to the states, plus duty to Obama, plus shipping to the user, plus profit and possilby sales tax, it might be hard to get them much cheaper than from the UK.

But the shipping cost from the UK could currently be cut by three quarters with a different method than air. It would just take longer.

You make a good point I guess. Given those possibilities I decided to ask a friend in the U.K. who is visiting next week to bring a set with him. No shipping charges but I'll have to pay 15% VAT so it'll still be $80 when all is said and done.

I have the PDF for installing the mudflaps, but it doesn't quite match my 2010- I don't have any holes for the sliding nut clips to align with that I can see.

(The front flaps went in real easy.)

I shouldn't have to drill holes for the rear flaps should I?

Please look through the thread (maybe 2-3 pages in) for one link to te instructions for 2010...

I now have proven an an 8% increase in mileage over 500+ miles. Of course, I did also increase my tires to 47 lbs.....

They add amazing mileage - at a low cost over the long haul....

Nevermind, in examining the car more closely I can see that the rear quarter panel is actually all plastic, not metal. So I guess the screws just penetrate where they do after you start them into the painted plastic quarter panel part where you slip on the clips...

You mean your friend has to pay the VAT. VAT does not apply to export items. But you still saved a lot.

Correct, they're self tapping screws. First hold the flaps up and get them aligned properly and then use a pen to mark the spot for the screws.

Just a quick reply to this thread:

Picked up my Gen III V with Adv Tech Package on the 7th of Oct found this thread and ordered the mudflaps. They were shipped on the 9th of Oct and are now on the car. Easy install, easier than the Gen II, if I remember correctly.

Many thanks to all of the posters that lead me to order these.

Anyone with a 2010 Red Prius install these mud flaps? I would really like to see some pics if possible. Thanks in advance if anyone can post some pics.

I would love a set of mudflaps that were color matched to my car.
