Have any of you experienced Prius hate? Today I was driving to the mall, and a group of trucks (Ford f-250, Dodge ram, Chevy silverado) started rideing on my a**. They were getting beside me and honking their horns, and trying to run me off the road! I put my foot to the floor and tried to loose them, but they clearly have an advantage. When I would stop at a stop light, one was behind me, and the other two was beside me, they would rev their engine's, and burnout D = it was scary!

It’s clear that they were a bunch of nice person&@! That’s part of the problem America faces with fuel consumption. This type of pick up driver can’t pick their own mess at home.

They likely suffer from a latent form of Prius envy, meaning their low IQ likely coupled with low income made them feel inferior to the intelligent person driving a Prius. Screw em. When I drive my Silverado, I respect the Prius driver…because I am one J.

They're a bunch of sore losers stuck in the past, unable to move into the future.

Even the Big3's can't move their hatchbacks into the future.

Take for example the Chevy HHR, and PT Cruiser, both retro styled from the 50's or 60's. These car makers just can't let go of the past.

    Glad you're ok.

If it ever happened to me. I might give it a few minutes, and attempt to get away from them. If they were pursuant, I would not hesitate to call the police. I do not tolerate bullies, and what those drivers were doing could be considered harassment, and public endangerment.

Uh, did you take their license plates? I would think that doing what they did ("trying to run me off the road") constitutes some sort of criminal offense.

while judging them for their rude and immature behavior is entirely appropriate,

judging them for their choice of vehicle is not very different than the Prius hater judging you for your choice of vehicle

i have a Prius, but also a large displacement motorcycle as well as a big truck or two

i encounter a lot of Prius hate, including a boatload tonight while i took the 101 N home ...

i find it aggravating, and even dangerous

i have to control myself and caution myself about not acting out

i find it interesting that another driver is going to judge me based upon my choice of vehicle, and presume they are a superior person, a superior driver or somehow invincible ...

    it is very shortsighted

other drivers often tailgate me in my Prius, even when i am exceeding the speed limit

normally i wave them to back off, or to pass, or i weave a little to make them think

ONCE i did nothing, and that one time i was rear ended

i now have to endure 20 weeks of physical therapy

i shall not be tolerating any tailgating

twice today i warned off tailgaters

Yeah it's weird - I part ex'd a vauxhall vxr8 (Pontiac g8 in the states I think) with 6.2 450bhp corvette v8. 99%of the time I drive them the same (two toddlers in the back) and the diifference is very apparent. With the big Vx no tail gating and generally left alone. In the prius it's just one tail gator after another <sigh>.

The vxr8 is a Holden Commodore SS, made in Australia and badged up for the UK. Also was sold as the G8 in North America.

I drive a maked patrol vehicle at work and my Prius to and from work. I don't notice people treat me any different in either really.

I know its a terrible situation and no option is completely safe. If I was in the right lane personally would slow down REGARDLESS of them being close. I would decelerate slowly not suddenly. If they want to rear end me, they will be the ones at fault. I have done this before with people riding up too close while I was in the right lane. If I was in ANY other lane I would move to the right when safe.

You can find lowlife people anywhere, but the OP's neck of the woods isn't noted for enlightenment. In that area, a sign of affluence is two pickup trucks up on blocks in the front yard.

If I get that kind of crap and the yuppie-button/thumb doesn't
get the message across, as an ultimate last resort I'll simply
light the hazards and very gradually slow down, and keep slowing
down, to a dead stop if I have to. Gee, maybe there's something
wrong with my drivetrain causing a loss of motive power, huh?
Meanwhile if it's bad enough I'm calling 911 at the same time
and reporting the whole thing and trying to give them a position
fix and what the next town I'm coming to is so they can set up
    the appropriate ambush.
    .
But usually once you're down under 15 mph they give up and roar
around and go harass somebody else. Which provides an opportunity
to get pictures of their plates to follow up on the report...

That is scary. I would have called 911. And gotten their license plate numbers if at all possible.

Just no excuse for that sort of game-playing. I've seen it too... like this morning when there was a car so close to me at speed that I couldn't see his headlights.

I have a story about an old friend who wired up his brake lights and backup lights so he could actuate them with a switch. In other words, make it look like he was braking when he wasn't, or look like he was backing up when he wasn't.

Apparently the sight of backup lights ahead of you on the freeway is enough to scare off most folks.

You'd be surprised how they react when something that MIGHT look like the barrel of a pistol peeks over the window sill. :D

Why does this story from the OP sound so much like a modern version of the movie Deliverance. "Squeal like a Prius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
