It's officially over. We pulled the boat yesterday during a short break in the weather. It's been a cold rainy summer and fall.

Having topped off the diesel tank, I now have the total fuel cost for this year: $24. Not all of this was for the engine, as we also use diesel for hot water and cabin heat. It makes the Prius seem like a gas guzzler. On the other hand, the Prius doesn't need two huge pieces of heavy equipment to get into the garage.

It's never really over, Tom. You just have to be patient for a couple of weeks until the water's cold enough to fit skis on the boat. :D

Good point. Ice boating is just around the corner. Here is a video from last season:

Heading out for a 4 day cruise today, so don't tell 'Nenya' it's over! While ice boating is faster and more exciting, it doesn't fit my motto of 'warm and dry' so no more ice boating for MJ. Temps 77,78,75, the next few days. I'll be thinking of you as I enjoy fall sailing.

Very similar. Land sailing offers more opportunity for road rash. Ice boating still maintains the chance of drowning. Pick your poison.
