    Hi nobody quote me on this. while doing some research on the prius i came apon a search page that i found and it talked about these green tires and said that they are dangerous cause it changes the whole stopping (example) if it took you 10 feet to stop now it would be 15-20 feet to stop cause of the tread.

    just wondering if that was old and its fixed now idk.

    Whenever a non-OEM tire is selected, it may change the handling characteristics of the vehicle.

    This could go either way - better or worse. OEM tires aren't always the strongest choice, but usually a balance of cost, performance, and wear. Some aftermarket tires are far better choices for wear or performance, but impose an MPG hit. Some tires are great for MPG, but offer poorer wear characteristics or traction in specific scenarios. Then you have your $50 tire shop special which *might* be horrible at both, or a diamond in the rough. In no instance would I expect stopping distances to vary by more than 10-15%.

    The Hydroedge specifically has been a popular swap choice for the Gen II Prius with what most owners would consider an acceptable compromise in MPG for better performance.
