I'm only about 700 miles into my Gen III. However, I still haven't figured out how to glide! I'm averaging 57mpg, which is 6 mpg better than my Gen II at the same age and 7 mpg better in similar weather conditions.

I've caught on quickly with the HSI, but I don't really know if I'm ever truly gliding. When looking at the power flow, there is always energy either coming from the battery or going into it. I can black out the HSI, but not the energy flow. Is there something I'm missing?

I'm a pulse and glide veteran with the Gen II. I was getting 56mpg with it before it was destroyed; so if I'm making a noob mistake, it's a Gen III-specific noob mistake that I haven't read about in these forums.

    Thanks in advance!

I think this is what you're looking for. It's Ken's pic of the pulse and glide zone (no offense intended by the title of the link -- it's what popped up and why I'm doing a quick edit).

Oh so I've been gliding all this time lol. I black out the hsi screen so I guess that would be the best possible as far as not using any energy. Thanks!

I don't think the Gen III actually glides. Try popping it into neutral and comparing that to gliding to see what I mean. It seems as if it glides better in neutral than it does with no energy bar. I have done no testing, just Butt dyno, so I could be wrong.
Ken's method gives great results until battery SOC drops, then not so good as the ICE is working to re-charge the traction battery, or at least that's what seems to happen.
