Hello Prius owners, I just completed a trip to Alaska from Fort Myers, FL and back in my Prius which I did some modifications on to allow me to sleep and live in it: I have posted some pictures of what I did on a
I'm not allowed to post a link since this is my first post but the blogs name is priusalaska at blogspot if you google prius alaska I think you can find it that way

I found the Prius to be a very good choice for economical reasons and a good setup for camping in it.

Sweet beans! Nice going! I like the vehicle adaptations.

I was just listening to some stories of Alaska trips on a radio net. One involved a Plymouth wagon and 48 (!!) tire punctures. The other, three guys in a WWII Jeep MB. These were before the highway was paved. The Jeep kept having its fasteners rattled loose. They had to tighten what they could at each stop. When they arrived, each front fender was held on by two nuts. The battery had also succumbed to impact and had split, so they had to make sure to park on top of hills.

    Nice adaptation!
I had not thought about removing rear seat, so we kept it in and folded it down for sleeping when DW and I drove to Alaska last year.
Hope you had a great time and got some nice pics of the scenery!

Wow, neat stories. Well I almost tried the drive to the Artic Circle which is mostly a gravel road but got into some dense fog about 15 miles north of Fairbanks so turned around. No flats or problems of any kind on this trip, the Prius preformed well.

I found your blog. The pictures seem to be gone though. I would love to see the blog with the pictures if you have time to re-post the pictures.

The "Top of the World " highway and the highway (Yellowknife?") South from Dawson City was largely unpaved. I had one blowout and while fixing that I found that the rear air deflector things in front of the rear wheels had both vibrated loose. Had to wire them up to keep it together until we returned to Virginia. The paved sections are no problem, but the "road construction " and unpaved sections and frost heaved sections are hard on the vehicle IMO.

Thank you for sharing you experience on using the Prius II as "camper". Your setup of car modifications is inspiring and the pictures clearly show the details of your conversion.

Found the photos from your trip at Alaska trip 2015 , reminds my of my stay in Anchorage.
Really nice trip, congratulations. To cover about 500 to 600 miles a day ist quite a distance, too, even in a Prius!

    Thank you for sharing,
    Pale Fox
