george, No the ECU in your car must match the key fobs. So when I tried to program a new/additional Toyota key fob it failed. After alot of trial and error I discovered the ECU in my car was a make that matched a Lexus number. That new Lexus number key fob worked for me. Some how off the dealer lot I was given a Toyota with a Lexus ECU. No clue why. Even my Prius manual indicates which key fob IDs work from Toyota and my Prius original key fob ID was not on the list. Very strange but it worked for me. Roy
