3rd compressor on this 2005 , this is just one of many over and over again same old story Prius after Prius. Been to a body shop, poor quality work, miss matched bolts, not the best paint job but someone save money at the cost of some paying the bill for poor repairs later. After market condenser , here you can see the burnt black and metal flakes on the dryer shock. The filter screen above was white before. The expansion valve and compressor was replaced but not the condenser ( not my call ) but keep this in mind. Toyota has a bulletin that says if you do not see a lot of metal flakes in the filter you can reuse the condenser?. THIS IS A BUNCH OF BS!!!. If there was some metal in the filter most was stuck in the condenser first what little made it past the tiny inner fins and tubes you can see in the filter, the rest is restricting the condenser. ( Yes you can reuse the old condenser if you want to replace another compressor some time in the future). This 2005 got a new DENSO Toyota condenser and a salvage yard compressor, it worked great, but with all that black gritty stuff coated all through the entire A/C system I will most likely see this one and many others back for another compressor again. Its to bad Toyota put the expansion valve under the dash making it a 7 hour job to replace it. That's one of the reasons compressors need to be re-replaced after the first burn out and not replacing the expansion valve and completely flushing or replacing the entire system. When I am ask to fine a problem on a Prius that has a partly plugged condenser but a new compressor and later it comes back it make it vary difficult and some times impossible to find another problem related to the a/c .
