what you see in this photo WILL KILL A PRIUS A/C COMPRESSOR IF MISS USED, can be used for service/maintenance/fix and or damage/poor a/c performance/break. It depends on who uses and for what purpose , these products have a specific use unfortunately they are used like penicillin by a bad doctor just throwing a wrong cure at the problem. Some times it works and they think they fixed it but do not often know why. If you are a going to use a "So Called Universal Oil" take that with a grain of salt. At least use the right viscosity a PAG 46 vis for a 46 vis, a 68 for a 68, 100 for 100, you get it there is a 125, 135, 150, 200. There is a difference and then there is ESTER oils. The old ESTER oil from many years ago that you may have been told to do a retrofit from R12 to R134a is not the same as the new ESTER oil for the new electric compressors of today. A lot has changed in oil technology in the last 20 years. there is a lot more to be said about oils but i'll stop here. Now A/C sealants, you have the seal sweller and the epoxies both work vary differently and both have several different chemical makeups. The seal swellers just swell orings and seals, but the epoxies types can use air or moisture or both to harden. Some need less some more to harden. Be careful and read all instruction top to bottom and if you see that little * read the tiny little print , it may say you have to change the DRYER "DO IT!". Vacuum good and if you have a micron gauge use it some leaks leak under pressure but not vacuum (I wont explain how that happens here ) I don't like sealers but they do have a place. Lets talk FLUSH, there are many kinds most good or ok some not so good but the most important thing is to get it all I MEAN ALL OUT !. There is ways because of safety I can not explain how and most automotive TECH never even heard of it and to the untrained TECH it can and will damage parts and people to but it is one of the best. Bad odor coming from the dash, there a few ways to fix this depending on cause and the cost to get to it. Sprays, foams, mist from foggers or OZ = O3 (ozone) i'v used them all and they all work if used and applied correctly. In my area a lot of shops damage many customers cars trying to fix or just turn a quick profit. The customer ends up paying for the repair caused by the shop. This photo is just one of many BRANDS sell the same products but not all are the same this is one of the big problems. " You can stick salad oil in place of engine oil in a car and it will work. But thats all Common sense will tell you the rest. I know I have used salad oil in a emergency ( long story ). I Recommend any TECH and owner of a shop to not just join MACSW for the piece of paper to hang on the wall, but send your TECHs and self to the training, yes it cost money and lost shop time but is well worth it. If you have a old EPA CFC CERT from 20+ years ago it's time to update retake the MACS EPA refrigerant CERT test . read the test practice book it is a free down load you will learn something as you study. Go to web site http://macsw.org/ this is the study guide free in English and Spanish http://macsw.org/MACS/Certification/Section_609_Certifcation.aspx?&WebsiteKey=d89ff0bc-ce9d-41d9-a243-d885ad993b37&hkey=a4bf82fe-9db6-4507-8ddd-27fd9b9153f6&Technician_Panel=2
