Air Conditioning Flush , For what?. it's that time of year when we are getting some warm days and people are starting to use their air conditioning. This is only one of many brands of chem flush made for A/C system. USES after a compressor burn up on lines and hoses and evaporator, NOT to be used on a condenser after a bad dirty compressor burn up, only replace the condenser with ( I HIGHLY recommend only a OEM DENSO condenser ) on your Prius !. The expansion valve Must be removed from the evaporator to perform this flush . You must take the a/c system apart to clean out all components. what ever BRAND of flush you use you must fallow the manufactures instructions. " not all , in fact few automotive manufactures approve of any or only a specific air conditioning flush solvent. You can damage if you do not get out all the flush solvent. If using shop compressor air that contains a large amount of water in it and with the evaporation and cooling effect of the solvent you can condense a lot of liquid water in the A/C system. There are many types of flush solvent some better then others but the most important thing is to get it all out with out leaving water in the system after you are done or flush solvent. Compressed dry nitrogen is the best to use but the most dangerous to the untrained, uneducated, unskilled, lack of Knowledge person. A proper high quality nitrogen pressure regulator must be used if not it can and will damage the car and cause serious injury or even death!. Nitrogen is compressed to 2000 PSI to 4000 PSI. The hoses and gauges for a/c service were never meant to have over a working PSI of 400 PSI and a BURST PSI of 800PSI= ( pounds per square inch ) THIS IS NOT something a DIY or a ignorant cheap shop owner who just buys the cheapest tools and hands it to a untrained TECH and he or she injures them self or some one else. ( " This is a sore point for me because I worked with bosses that did this and young , untrained TECHs did get injured more then once and in a few shops). Always wear eye protection, ear protection for loud compressed air noise, wear a respirator with a cartridge rated for the VOCs you or your TECH is using, Nitrile gloves to protect the skin. If possible preform this service out doors not in the shop or have a big good fan blowing out the door, or use a closed loop flush system machine. THINK SAFETY FIRST NOT COST!!!... Other uses is to clean and flush out too much oil or PAG oil that has been added to the Prius air conditioning system. I am just using this one flush brand to show you as a example only, there are many. I just know this one is readily available products on shelves in the San Francisco bay area. There a few others to. There are other things used but not approved but i"m not here to talk about them.
