Prius air conditioning uses DENSO refrigerant oil ND-11 (ESTER base stock) This is the one trace dye brand I have been using for over 20 years now for both automotive and commercial and residential HVAC. Shop owner and Techs if you are tired of getting poor results with some of the cheaper trace dyes then get this trace dye and the OPTI-LUX 365 part# TP-8691 and you will SEE leaks like you never seen them before. If as a shop you want to provide your customer with the best possible service and not lose your customer to the shop down the block this is one set of tools that will make your shop the leader of the pack. You can see this company dose not cut corners for Dielectric ESTER oil should only come in metal cans with a press fit steel cap under the lid of a new can or come wrapped in a foil sealed wrap. If your shop dose not do many Prius or other hybrids then you should only get the small individual single dose capsules that are foil wrapped. Moisture migrates right through the plastic in a few hours. so only open it just Prior to use. If you do get a large size then store it in a metal can with a desiccant inside to remove moisture out of the air in the can and if you really want to make it last and you do only a few hybrid a/c service a year add a service fitting through the side of the can and purge it with dry nitrogen, but you only do the extra steps if you care about your work and your customer, it's easy and dose not take much time or effort. The best tool for hybrid ester oil and hybrid trace dye is the oil injector with the strong aluminum housing with a inner glass tube to stop moisture, the best so far I will let you know after a few hundred more cars this year how it stands up to lots of use. You can inject the oil or dye into the glass tube as soon as you open the foil pouch that contains the dye. The only thing that need to be modified is to remove the hose because it to lets moisture travel right through it into the oil or dye. there is a metal flexible fitting to replace the rubber hose.
