UV Leak testing using dye and UV light. Absolutely the best light I have ever used, hands down it is in it's own category. The OPTI-LUX 365 UV light is Brighter, has the highest intensity focused beam with the strongest reflective power to show the dye. 15" away in day light and you can still see the dye vary bright as if light were projecting out of the fluid you were testing. This is a industrial light used in aviation , manufacturing , stress testing and forensics. Transmission fluid, engine or invert-er coolant, power steering fluid, refrigerant ac, If you are a shop owner or TECH this is what we have been waiting for to cut back on shop time to diagnosis. As Techs we all know some times we can't make light bend and can not get the flash light into tight places but this is so powerful just the light reflecting of other surfaces will make the dye glow brightly, and some times we have the problem when the leak are so small and faint some of the other fluids or back ground surfaces also reflect a UV light as if it were a dye. This is one of those times when it shines bright. It list price at about the $700+ mark but you can get it around $500 + . http://www.gardco.com/pages/labapp/uv/optilux365.cfm All I can say if a shop owner wants to be at the top of their game and lead the pack and make life easier for their TECHs to get onto the next job this is one must have tool. As Lee Iacocca of Chrysler once said (" Lead, Follow or get out of the WAY! "). I live by this. As a customer you need to know when it's time to fire your service shop, and when you are a Tech you need to know when to FIRE! your BOSS!. For TECHs you need to take pride in your profession and take care of your customers, remember they feed you. Customers need to know were to find good TECHs and shops , it's not easy.
