Prius owner or any hybrid or electric vehicle owner and shop owners or TECHs should only be using a a/c recharging machine for R134a that meet the new SAE J2788 standard. with a refrigerant analyzer and built in micron gauge. Both the BOSCH ACS 620H - part# F00E900826 . web site ( http://www.boschdiagnostics.com/testequipment/diagnostics/ACS/acs620H/Pages/ACS620H.aspx ). or the BOSCH ACS 625 web page (http://www.boschdiagnostics.com/TESTEQUIPMENT/DIAGNOSTICS/ACS/ACS625/PAGES/ACS625.ASPX ).and must have a refrigerant analyzer and use it on every car serviced if not you are not dealing with a real A/C specialty shop or service repair shop. It is highly recommended a micron gauge used thats if the shop owner or TECH even know what one is , let-alone even knows how to properly use it. A shop should only use one machine with one refrigerant and only one machine with one type oil. One unit only with electric compressors using Ester oil and one unit for PAG oil. Yes it is expansive and will get more expansive as the EPA and automotive industry have just add a new refrigerant R1234YF and we will need to buy two new machines, one for electric cars (ESTER oil) and one for( PAG ) oil cars. The two oils and the two different gas must not be mixed and only by the use of separate a/c machines can this be accomplished. The RTI machine RSH 980C is vary good to web page http://rtitech.com/ac_arcticpro_RHS980c.asp I do not recommend the use of one a/c service machine for both hybrid and non- hybrids, absolutely use two separate units no matter what the piece of paper that came with the unit says.
