What did you use to give the lights that dark tint?

The place I went to in Westminster (Harbor Motor Sports, HMS) used candy paint, the kind you use to shoot any automobile, as if they were goin to paint my car a candy coated color. I use to have the vinyl wraps around my tail lights, but he (John) said that was so five years ago, lol, which is true. So I actually like how they came out and at night you can still see the red lights come through. Same with the day when I brake or if I have my headlights or parking lights on while driving.
