Nobody else has picked up on the picture. I think they miss the "Seven hundred years ago" part. These many threads about Global Warming or Climate Change make me laugh. This picture was drawn about 20 years ago in the early 1990's and things are still the same. It came from a UK mag called Viz which was popular with university students in the early to mid 1990's. It was often childish and crude if you're thinking of looking it up, so beware
Of course I remember the 1970s, when our industry and automobiles were plunging us into another "Ice Age". My memory may be off on the details, but I believe by now most of the Northeastern US was supposed to be under an ice sheet. Mankind is nothing if not pompous, we can barely predict the weather for tomorrow, let alone next week, and yet we think we understand our planet's intricate long term climate. Climate change is real; the Earth's climate has been changing ever since it came into existence, and it will continue to change, no matter how many cell chargers we unplug or hybrids we drive. If we really wanted to do something, we should be looking at the possible climate changes that our Sun and Earth could throw at us, and start planning some strategies as to how we will survive them as a species; instead of wringing our hands and believing we can change it. FWIW.
