What is the ONLY U.S. National Park that's named for a pirate?
Jean Lafitte National Park, of course.

He was a pirate, in the twilight years of western hemisphere piracy, based out of "Barataria" near the town that's named after him, Lafitte Louisiana.

Why does a pirate deserve this honor? He struck a deal with to-be-president Andrew Jackson at the behest of the New Orleans city council to supply heavy artillery and his band of cutthroats to supplement the local militia and Jackson's sick soldiers hurriedly marched from Tennessee. It was a showdown with Britain's finest redcoats, fresh off the boat from Wellington's victory at Waterloo. You can read the history, but Lafitte's men and cannon proved decisive.

Mostly, we are left with this silly image of a parody of Lafitte, who hawks Cap'n Crunch cereal. Alas, it was a pirate's life.
