Sorry to ask but my dealer is saying something else.

Is this a dealer give date? I understand that the 2006s are behind by two months from where the 05s where last year. I am tempted to wait for an 06 but the price increase and possible loss of the $1500 deduction will add up.

    Just wondering...

(sidebar) $1,500 deduction? As in Fed tax deduction? If so, I thought it was upwards of 2K. Funny,... the dealers in my town (NYC) keep saying the tax deduction is only until July of this year. (I believe to rush me into a purchase)

The IRS website currently says it's all of 2005, then falls to $500 in 2006. In 2007, there will be no Fed deduction, unless the Pres. signs something new into effect. (The local dealers also all tell me that leather isn't an option, yet I see people on this board, and others, either ordering it, or already with it.) Toyota even sent me an e-mail apologizing for no leather option, as well as the lack of flexibility with the colors of the interior with the exterior.

Back to the topic. I just put a deposit down on a Seaside Pearl w/ option#6. $26,5 pre tax, $28,8 post tax w/ regis./title etc. My fiance' and I have been discussing the unknown wait "For this vehicle to be built", along with the nearing of the end of this year's model. How will the price come into play, if the 2006 model is soon up for orders? Will the MSRP price be dropped for the late arriving 2005s?

    It has some good points.

I am not sure how the tax letter from the IRS will work out for an 06 in 05. Timing might be an issue.

I do feel there will be at least a 3% MSRP increase.

These all could mean as much as $1500 more paid. I could upgrade the JBL for that. So what am I waiting for?

PS I understand some golf states can order leather seats. Packages and options vary by region.

The new (2006) Prius will be available with factory leather and factory-installed satellite radio (I believe it will be XM, though I'm not sure).

 Are they really going to keep your deposit?
    Bad business practice. Bad press.
Did you put it on your credit card?
If so, you may be able to challenge it.
