    Ordered a 2005MY but if the 2006MY is coming out within the next few months I'll hold off till they come and order the 2006 (salesperson said july or august). When were the first 2005's actually being delivered?

    Typically, the new model year has come out about September.

    I got mine on the first day the 2005 model was delivered to dealers in Southern California, September 15.

    And I got my dealer's last 2004 Prius straight off the boat on September 11, 2004. So there you go.

    Or you could believe the salesman... :lol:

    Haha. MY = model year.

    I was trying to figure out why Toyota would add another package to the lineup for 2006.

    The 2006 models for Prius will be out in late November, 2005. A few color changes and a few additons they plan, like leather and MAYBE a pwr seat, but the car will be introduced later than we are accustomed to.

    So if they become available in September, when do dealers begin taking orders?

    Thanks,

    Late November is what I heard

    In this case, the Prius for 2006, it's not out till late November.

    Thanks for the reply Di...

    Yes, I got November from other threads... I was curious when dealers would let you order one. Is it not until they are available on the showroom floors??? I would assume you could put an order in much ealier?!!?!? They would have to have all the option details down of course...

    Anyone know when you can "Place your order" with a dealer?

    Thanks Again!

    Thanks Dianne!

    BTW, do you have any idea when Toyota might be releasing color and/or package changes for the 2006?

    It's seemed to me in the past that it's been about 3-4 months before the models became available that they would announce the changes (e.g., Oct -> June or July). But if it's late November, sounds like we're talking August before specifics come out.

    One cannot order a vehicle that's still being sold thru October 2005 as a 2005 model. You can sit here and request all you want, but how would you know what to order? What package or color?

    Does anybody know if there will be price increase for the 2006 year. I saw the note about the $300 increase on August 1st for the 2005 model year.

    I've also been wondering when the 2006 model can be ordered since I found this article:
    http://www.arifleet.com/pnews/2005/PN516.pdf

    If this is a reliable source, it means that as of August 10, you can no longer order 2005 Prius. Does this mean that if I went in today, I could order a 2006, or do I have to wait until November? Do they just not accept any orders from August 10 - November?

    I'll email my local dealer tomorrow to see if they will give me an answer.

    The 2006 will probably go up in price alot due to all the new addons.

    Couple comments:

    1. How are they going to sell 2006's in November and December with the tax credit hanging out there in January?

    2. Dealer called today to say our Prius was at there dealership and we told them we'd wait till 2006. They told my wife that they didn't want us to make a mistake by waiting!?!?! (Can't wait to talk to this guy tomorrow!)

    Any comments?

    Yeah, DC. These guys have known since June, when the energy bill passed, what they'd be up against in Oct.-Nov. '05s are beginning to pile up on lots---where dealers have big allocations. You figured it out.

    If there are '05s left over in Dec., they're still eligible for the tax break 1/1/06. But some dealers will probably have to discount them. Toyota might have to give out a few "factory incentives" for setting up their timing this badly.

    We were able to "order" an '06 Prius today (Eugene, OR) but were told they won't really have details as to packages until likely next week. I've seen packages here and on other sites, so had a good idea of what we wanted. No prices available yet, either.

    Fellow will email/call us next week with package and to do final details, once package details are "known". (On arrival at dealer, asked for web-response guy who replied to my web query. Guy is a retired PhD from DOE! First time I've met a car sales guy with a PhD! So far, nice guy.)

    What, was he fired from DOE for telling the truth in a report or an e-mail?

    Not from what I've read on other threads. I think the base is to go up around $300, and I've heard that the fully dressed-out package NW#8, will go for just under $29,000 (leather, nav, 9 speaker JBL, etc). If I can find the applicable message with the supposedly fairly accurate package prices, I'll post it here.

    As I said I'd do, here's a copy of a message from another PC thread - I forget the poster's name:

    "These prices have been on priusonline. The guy says they are 'official' but he works for a dealer in CA I think. Also, since each region is supposedly getting different packages he only lists prices for pkgs in his region. here they are:

    HE=package #3=$1.450.00 $21.865.00 ( Base Car+ Freight+Option )
    GY=side curtain air bags, painted door handle w/Antenna
    KE=keyless entry with smart entry feature rear Camera.

    HK=package #6=$3.815.00 $21.865.00 ( Base Car+Freight+Option )
    GY+KE+ VD=vehicle skid control PN= Inmmobilizer & security
    horn Garage door opener EJ=PREMIUM 3-in-1-changer 6 disc-9speaker
    LF=fog lamps QI=high intensity discharge HID lamps rear camera.

    NL=package #7=$5.715.00 $21.865.00 ( Base Car+Freight+Option )
    KE+GY+PN+EJ+VD+LF+QI+ NV=navigation system rear camera

    NW=package #8=$6.875.00 $21.865.00 ( BaseCar+Freight+Option )
    GY+KE+PN+NV+EJ+VD+LF+QI+ LA= Leather trimmed seats rear camera

    Basically seems to me after everything a loaded #8 will go for just shy of 29k."
