So I'm getting all of my research done and making all of my plans for the big nav install (hopefully this week). I have been thinking about where I want to install my GPS ant. and Sirius ant. and thought I had decided on the underside of the left and right windshield tweeter screens.

Well I was messing around in the car the other day and thought about the rear view mirror. There is already a factory wire guide/cover in place to nicely hide the wires and the mirror is big enough to mount the ant.'s on the backside. They would have a clear view of the sky...I just wonder if their position being that way if it would work. Anyone have an opinion???

    My guess is that (IMO)
Sirrius antenna needs to go exterior (on top of roof)
GPS antenna can be under windshield.
Why? Not many Sirrius sat out there. There are very likely 5-6 sats visible to the antenna at most locations. It only needs 4 to pin point a location.

I've mounted the Sirius antenna on the dashboard right in the middle and it worked fine for years. I use to put it in the back shelf of other cars, but the new window tints have the metal layer that blocks the signal.

The trick on the 2010 Prius is running the antenna cable up to the middle of the I/P without it being seen. I press it between the glass and I/P upper trim panel until it gets to the "A" pillar molding. I had to remove the "A" pillar molding, small side window vent cover, passenger window vent cover, passenger vent cover, upper glove box (ran it behind it) and to the radio.
