It's complicated but, I have my heart set on the 2010. But my car was in an accident and I have to buy a car now, while waiting for the 2010s to come out. So I went to a Toyota Dealer to look at used Prius' (what is the plural for Prius? Priusi?) I also put name name in for the 2010s and got the run-around on allocations and how they might not have any until Octotber. Right.

My choice: 2005, gold, 39,500 miles, "certified", very clean, $14, 995
2006, silver pine, 34,000 miles, "certified", very clean, $16,995

So, here's the dilemma... which one of these will hold its value better until the 2010 comes in? Also, I use an iPod a lot and would like to plug it in if possible. My salesman was an old geaser with a really bad wig and he didn't even know what an iPod is.

When the 2010 comes in, I will drive in with the 05 or 06 and trade it in. The dealership guys were of no help at all. They just wanted to sell me something; today. I didn't bite. :)

Any comments from anyone would be great. Thanks!

That package did each one come equipped with? I might lean towards the 06, get them to drop the "certified" tag and save some cash that way...then being within its original mfg warranty, maybe buy an extended 7yr/100k from Troy for another $1k. If their cars already are extended through 100k, then I'd just stick with that.

2006 had more of the 2005 add ons as standard issue...so I guess it depends on what package they have. Both are low enough mileage, but you might have more options warranty-wise with the 06.

How long has each car been on the market? I can probably run quick Autocheck for you and find out when it went out for sale. Email me through PC and i'll help you out. If one has been for sale for months, that is a huge leverage point.

On a completely useless matter, I would rather the silver than gold color. :)

Having beening looking for and eventually buying a 2nd hand II Gen Prius I wouldn't touch the 2005 with a barge pole.

The 2006 is facelifted and the key difference is the interior plastics. All the 2005 I saw had bad scratches on the awfully cheap plastics. The arm rest in the front made loads of noise...the 2006 corrects these defects.

I'm loving my 2006 Prius and so glad I avoided the 2005.
