I would like to replace my Front Turn Signal, Front Parking Lights, and Rear Turn Signal with LEDs. Where is a good place to order excellent LED bulbs for my Prius?

Not sure but I just ordered a set from superbrightleds.com. I've heard their names all over the place (from Lexus to Acura forums).

I found this site and interested on replacing the fog lamp with these PIAA lamps. My concern is that these bulbs are at least 51W. I'm afraid that it might burn my OEM wires. Is this just a direct replacement of the bulb?

Hello Patrick. I got my PIAA bulbs, 2 LED amber front running lights, 2 LED red rear running lights, and 2 LED 'high power' interior lights from this site. Custom car parts, performance auto accessories and truck parts Select your vehicle model on the upper left side of the web page and have fun shopping. I think my money spent is worth it and those lights will look a lot brighter during the day and night.

Did you change the flasher for the LED turn signals? They won't work with the standard flasher.

Negative on that. I opt not to replace the signal light bulbs at this time and it may definitely require a load equalizer that can also be purchased from the same site. All the LED bulbs that I ordered are for front and rear running lights only. I hope the difference is noticeable assuming that LEDs are much brighter than incandescent bulbs. I am also looking forward on installing the PIAA lamps to make the color almost the same as my HIDs. If I am happy with the result on the Prius with the LEDs that I ordered, I will go ahead and order LED bulbs for my turn signals. I am just not so sure how many load equalizers I many need...perhaps one should do it (??).

Quick question to all LED gurus. If I install 7440 LED bulbs on all four to replace my incandescent signal bulbs, do I still need load resistors perhaps one per side (installed on the rear)?

    here ya go...

you can change the flasher module to prevent "hyper flash"

A few of us have done this now. With flasher # CF18-08 found here:
    Flasher Specifications
and pics of doing it here:
    http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-te...l-bulbs-3.html

    And you'll need amber lights # 7440

    Good Luck

I replaced my two tail lights with LED's from Autolumination in AZ. Using the T10 SMT II Tower nine red LED unit, it increased the brightness somewhat over the stock 2825 bulb, which was pretty wimpy.

It would have been nice to get more LED's (brighter), but don't think it would fit into the lens space. The trick is to get the same color LED as the lens color.

I was going to go with white too, but the tips on the LED supplier websites say to use the same color LED as the lens color, otherwise too much of the color would be filtered out. So I went with a red LED. I didn't want to by both colors and experiment.
The tips also state that going with LED's don't always mean brighter. For me, it was a slight improvement in brightness.

I did the same thing on the rear lights. Bought Red LED Tower and the light is much brighter and more Red than stock. I'm happy with the result.

That's a big mistake. There is very little red light in a white LED. And after you pass the "white" light through a red filter, you're left with very few of the photos you started with. ALWAYS use the same color LED as the filter (lens). If done properly, almost 100% of the photos pass through the filter. Sure, it seems silly at first since we're used to incandescents that have tons of red and yellow in them. But with LEDs, the wavelength produced is very narrow.

Good to hear that they're giving relevant advice!

True! To a point. You can install an LED "bulb" in there that is brighter than the existing one... and still have the LED *appear* dimmer. This is because the fixture is made for incandescent bulbs. The reflector and lens are optimized for incandescent - not LED. LEDs have some great advantages over standard bulbs. But few of those advantages are realized when the bulb is retrofitted into an incandescent fixture. The way to make LEDs shine is to build a proper fixture for them. See your brake lights for an example of how a proper fixture can make LEDs into a fantastic lighting solution. LED retrofits still suck. And they likely always will suck. I have many $100's worth of the drop-ins that I keep buying in hopes that they'll one day magically be great. Hasn't happened yet, and I'm not holding my breath. We need proper LED fixture to really make this work.

I'm a HUGE LED guy. I have LEDs in all the places that make sense. Want to know where I don't have them? In any of the signal areas. If somebody can convince me that there's a drop-in, long-lasting product that will appear brighter than the factory bulb, I'd like to see the evidence! Please also note that none of these drop-ins (that I've ever seen) are DOT approved. That means that if you're involved in an accident, and somebody figures out that your lights are non-DOT, they can create a situation where the accident is totally your fault, regardless of reality. I've unfortunately seen this happen...

and its just red.. just like i want it.
maybe you mean that with the same power led in red color it would be brighter?

Got a set for the 2005. It's much redder than the stock one and slightly brighter. I'm happy with the results!
