The truth about cars has an editorial about a recent GM press event where they showed off an SUV hybrid. But what they did not tell the visitors till later was that the SUV in question was only a concept car, and that the particular vehicle that they had them drive was not exactly the actual hybrid version of the car. This editorial points out some of the greenwashing that GM is capable of.

But the main reason I'm posting it here is because I think the shape of this SUV looks surprisingly prius like.

This first link is regarding the SUV and the second link is another GM concept car that looks even more like the Prius. The second link is from another Priuschat thread on the Geneva auto show. It is some kind of Cadillac.

The profile of the GM "Cadillac" hybrid looks a lot more like a Prius than the profile of the GM "SUV" hybrid which is butt ugly.

If GM comes out with a Cadillac that incorporates HSD I wonder if my parents will buy one. They are Cadillac people. The last three cars they've owned are Cadillacs. And it's surprising how many times my mother has hopped in my car to have me drive her since I've bought my Prius. I don't know if she just likes the technology and watching the screen or she just likes the smooth drive of the "automatic".

One thing my parents love are the seats of their caddy, with all of the things mentioned here that the Prius lacks. Electric adjustment front/back, tilt, back and up/down. Plus they have leather, lumbar and the seats are heated. Their car is a little wider and longer so I think the back seats have more legroom and the trunk is bigger than the Prius' cargo area. Of course the Prius does have a hatch instead of a trunk.

But if there were an HSD version of the Cadillac, I wonder if my parents would trade in their car. I'm pretty sure my mother would go for it. (My Father *still* hasn't even gone for a ride in my car. But he'll have to August 10. We're going to the Tut exhibit in L.A.)

The SUV looks like a Nissan Armada. In a GM-tweaked way.

    Hmm.

It also looks like a hybrid of a Hummer/Jeep! Will they test it in Iraq?

i remember seeing these cars online... interesting, is all i have to say.

Godiva: have your parents test drive the 400h. My dad hates foreign cars but that 400h ( moms car ) makes him not look back at the Cadillac. i can't help but smile and laugh every time i think about it.

No, and I doubt they would. It's an SUV. Granted it's an expensive and luxurious SUV but I'm sure one or the other of them would say "We already have a truck. If I wanted to drive a truck I wouldn't need a car." or something to that effect. And the Lexus is really expensive. Caddys ain't cheap but it's a car.

I'm working on getting my Mother to at least drive my Prius. But I don't think they'd ever buy one.

However....if the Camry drives as good as the Prius and has some of the interior amenities of the Cadillac, especially in the seats....that's a future possibility.

If only GM would lease the HSD technology and then USE it.
