A decent share of you are probably experiencing this wonderful blizzard that is hitting the midwest (6-11" overnight). Just wondering how your 2010 prius faired.

My drive is usually 45 mins, took 1:15 tonight. Which wasnt too bad.

I was very thankful for good tires (Original) and traction control. If i was in my old car I would have been sliding through intersections and fish tailing.

Saw only a few idiots acting like there was nothing to slow down for. One person passed me on a reidential street, and then almost hit a plow truck coming the other way. Apparently, they had to be somewhere in a hurry. I was just thinking of how they would easily cause an accident.

But for the most part, I people were being pretty smart with their driving. Only saw one accident and one spin out, both 1/2 mile from home.

I seriously doubt I will be going into work tomorrow, but we will see.

How did the rest of you do tonight with your travels?

We already had a fair amount of snow. The current storm is coming in now as I type this.

Had to drive our 2-day old V in the snow today here in the AZ mountains after we had a hellacious storm last night. Not exactly what I had in mind, but I guess it's washable!

I was so sad. I got up this morning, and saw the roads were plowed and minimal school closings. Had to go to work. :( This was just like in school. Get all excited for a snow day just to get up in the morning to have your hopes and dreams dashed. Oh well, I am sure there will be more chances for a snow day.

We have been lucky so far in Vancouver; no snow yet.
It is getting awefully cold lately (-5 degrees Celsius last night) and surely the snow is coming!

Am not looking forward to trashing our Prius in the snow. Gotta avoid the crazy drivers we have in Richmond. :p

Drive carefully and take extra care!

Drove very nice esp compared to my old rear-wheel drive car. Saw a Toyota car carrier stuck in the cold (see upper car in pic). Mine came from the garage, and as you can see got hit pretty hard with snow on the way to work.

I got to play in snow in Red for the first time yesterday. I was let down a little. While the TCS was as expected, the ABS seemed to be out to lunch. I slid through a couple stops - the pulsing seemed awful slow, unlike my old Honda and Chrysler.

We got about 8" here and the car handled it well. Still have the stock OEM tires on. Passed a stuck minivan going up a hill this evening. They must have stopped and couldn't get restarted. Traction control seems to work fine although the chiming is a little annoying. Don't know why it has to make any noise at all. ABS was fine. It will be -5F (-20.5C) here tonight so we will see how the car likes it tomorrow. Mileage does take a big hit with all the snow and the low temps though.

Of course my wife took our CRV with AWD and left me the Prius.

The PDO hit us (the U.S. and Canada) pretty hard.

We received more snow in Auburn than we have since 1989. That's not saying much since it was only about 3-4" but still. :p

Traction control on my car was acting up at nearly every corner and through parking lots. Grr

We have been hit by very severe bone-chilling cold here -- i.e. normal temperatures for the other side of the mountains -- but no precipitation beyond a slight dusting of snow, the kind that leaves the pavement 75% black. Prius has been getting some cold weather starting practice, but no foul weather traction tests.

Currently 3 degrees F in Chicagoland.

That pile of frozen snow boulders the plow driver happily deposits at the end of the driveway is no match for the 4" ground clearance (or less on an incline) of the '10's front end. No, nothing bad happened to mine. Yet. But I can clearly imagine running over some big and angry icy ball some other driver has lost off their SUV in front of me that is quite a bit more than a match for that plastic nose cone Toyota puts up there. Be careful out on those winter streets!

I am too used to driving my GMC Safari with impunity on the streets around Chicago without having to worry about damage from frozen road mines. I need to think differently with the Prius.

At cold temperatures, the car creaks and clicks in new ways every day. I'm hoping as it warms up again, those noises will fade. That, and the 38mpg I'm getting in the cold is not too fun either (1.5 mile drive to work).

I drove in this morning, starting my commute at -2 Fahrenheit (-19C), and needed to get out of my driveway, and onto the snow packed streets for my 20+ mile commute.

If it wasn't for the quick heating of the seat heaters, I may have decided to stay home. Within about 5 minutes, I started to get some heat in the cabin, but to be honest even with an hour to deal with traffic, I never got 'hot' in the cabin, as I would have liked to have been.

That said, I know that it was COLD outside. Apart from that, the drive itself was great, I loved the ability of the vehicle to stay where I pointed it, no matter the road conditions. I never had an issue with either the ABS or Traction Control, and felt that the car handled great!

I love my new car! Bring on the deep snow.

    Ditto!

Fortunately for me, I only have a seven mile commute to work. So, driving on the skating rink last night ca. 18:30, everything did about as well as I expected it to, so I was happy. Continenal Extreme WinterContacts did admirably well on the skating rink masquerading as a road surface. TRAC mitigated wheelspin as well as anything else I've driven. Didn't get VSC involved, fortunately.

This morning, the ICE didn't shut off once. Couldn't say I blamed it -- if I had to shut back off this morning, I wouldn't have restarted either!!!
