In some areas (like mine) the XM didn't sound as good as a 1960's AM radio. Besides that it cut out everywhere there was a tall tree (in areas my Sirius does not). The FM is only marginally better.

I got a free iPod Touch with my Prius and playing via bluetooth it delivers outstanding sound. I'm spending my monthy $8 on the newest songs on iTunes

Yes, that is also the same deal I opted for back in June when I activated. $499.99, activated for lifetime, with Best of Sirius (Could not go without my Stern either!)

I love my XM. I have a lifetime for my house. I should convert my wifes Prius to lifetime.

Terestrial radio sucks. While my wife & I both have iPhones, we are more than happy with XM and the variety offered.

    80's
Classic Rock (defined by 2 era's of it)
    Hair Bands
The Blend (good family pop music, play alot with the kids around)
    Deep Tracks
    Christian
    Cinemagic ( love this)
    Classical Pops
    Jazz
and this time of year, my wife loves the Christmas music.

These are the favorites of ours.

Our music collection, while it is extensive just does not encompass the sheer amount that XM plays for us. It's obvious by the list that we have a very eclectic taste in music.
To each their own though. You like XM or you don't.

Congratulations. XM/Sirius is not a company that I want to provide revenue to and I was a subscriber from the early years. Unscrupulous business practices don't knowingly get my support.

I know it's not for some, but I really like XM so far. My 3-month trial just ended and I subscribed for another 5 months for $24 after taxes and fees. I travel ALOT and I really enjoy having this much choice everywhere I go. I have already traveled several times across Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas in the last 3 months and I have never had a problem with reception or the quality of the sound. I'm loving it!

I too have had XM for some time. I have a whole house Audio system with a XM unit for that as well, and with the discounts on 2 cars and the house, I pay 64.99/Quarter, which is fine. If I want to change I can. I am just used to it now. Don't care to hook up this and that device, cables, then download music and copy to a device....

My down time is precious to me, and don't want to be sitting at my computer to do "work" when I don't have to....plus I hate carrying more crud than I need.

My work Cell is not a blackberry so maybe then I would consider it...they remain frugal...

Probably why the company has not laid anyone off in it's history! :)

I just fired bloody XM/Sirius radio as well... Customer service person was surprisingly polite and professional today with me (not always the case) but the wait for a live person took the traditional 10-20 minutes... The main reason for the cancellation was cost. I don't think it is that expensive for its content but as I manage to cut off some expenses with "luxuries" based on overall value, I decided that satellite radio should go... I always found the quality of satellite radio less than ideal... my local digital FM stations (not HD) have better broadcasting quality. Also, I have over 10,000 songs in my IPod (much better quality) plus have been listening a lot to audio books that I get for free in my local library... I do also have the Insignia HD radio (paid less than 50 bucks for it) which is handy for local FM stations on better quality….plus my iPhone can broadcast Pandora radio, which I love... so too many cheaper or free options to justify satellite radio.. I won't miss it.

Was the better Sirius with another car? If yes, it may not be XM but your Prius!

XM was of better quality in all of my previous or current cars compared to the Prius... I think it has to do with poor reception by the Prius antenna since it goes off from time to time... XM simply would never work near one side of my house for some reason unlike my other cars…

We have enjoyed a portable Sirius unit to use daily (me) and on trips (both), but now I will be dropping that to switch over to XM in our 2010 Prius. Based on the threads on PC, I am interested to see what customer service will offer when the 90 trial runs out. $99 sounds like the way to go for a year. I am a little nervous about $499 lifetime--my life or theirs?

OK, so my son and I are headed out to New Mexico for some prospecting fun in October. It is the middle of the baseball playoffs. XM, no problem, we sit around the camp fire in the middle of no where and catch every game every night. Twas awesome and memorable!
So we are headed back home to Carolina and crossing tornado alley in Texas or Oklahoma, I'm trying to sleep in the back when I sense the Jeep slowing down. I look up and ask what is going on. My son points to the XM weather radar overlay on our GPS and says "we definitely don't want to drive through that". The monster storm was bright red on the screen, covered our route and had the classic tornado producing comma shape. Into the rest stop we went. Priceless!
Love my Ipod, but sometimes you just need some XM.

I don't want to resurrect an old thread, but I thought my post will be fit here. I have a Palm Pre and today while looking around the app catalog, I found Radiotime. radio time allows you to stream any FM station live. so if you go on a road trip you can listen to your local station (I have certain morning shows I like to listen to). The app is free too and it works really well. It's just another option besides pandora.

i got xm extended for like 6 months at $25 or so. i hardly ever use it (only use it when driving with family) since i listen to i-pod. have 2 one for podcasts the other has about 500 albums on it.

as long as it stays cheap, i will keep it for those occasional times i use it as it is nice change on long trips, but if the price goes up, i will drop it as well
