    greetings all,

i have a 2008 prius with SKS. when i use the remote to lock or unlock the doors, i hear either one or two beeps. same thing if i use the SKS. the beeps have always been at a volume level of around 7 out of 10. about 3 days ago, i went to unlock my car and the volume level of the beeps was at a level 1. you can barely hear it now and i don't know what happened. it's been that way ever since. i changed the battery on the fob but it didn't do anything. does anyone have any ideas? i tried searching the forum for old posts but was unsuccessful. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

The fob battery is unrelated to the volume of the beeps, with the exception that a dead fob will not unlock the car.

The beeping volume will be related to beeper itself or the condition of the 12V battery in the Prius. My first guess is that you 12V battery is weak, but it could also be an issue with the beeper.

Does the beep volume sound okay after a longish drive? If that's true, I would look at the 12V battery.

Good question. Check the wires and connections. Other than that, all I can think of is to try another beeper.
