I bought a 2006 package 5 with 42k on it for 15k from a dealer in March 2009. This car was very clean and I talked to the orginal owner and he bought it new. I only drive it from spring to fall and put it away from the winter salt in upstate, N.Y. I put over 5k on it so far and I love this car, it's fun to drive and I am getting great mileage when I drive it. I also have a Camry with 243,000 miles so if you take care of that 2006 it will last you for a long time and many miles of fun and happy driving. :):)

What about buying a used Prius that started out as a rental car? Is that an automatic no-no?

[We bought our 2006 package 8 last February from a BMW dealer in Portland Ore. for $14,000. They were consolidating their 2 lots into one and I think they simply wanted all the "trash" gone. So I got the best car on the used lot for a good price. Very happy with the car - With the exception of the Nav and the drivers seat I enjoy it more than any other I've ever owned. Neither of these would stop me from buying again - I knew before buying that the seat didn't really go back far enough, but it works.

What about this one? It was a rental car for about a year, driven 17K miles, then owned personally and driven another 10K or so.
