Elsewhere on PriusChat there are reports that Prius MSRP will increase by $400 about the end of January, for the second time since introduction of the 2010s.

Does anyone know if invoice pricing is changing as well, and by how much?

I remember DianneWhitmire had really useful advance comments last time . . .

I[m guessing this information might be useful to others, and was posted in this forum last time, so it might be posted her again. Hope this explains why I'm asking this way . . .

This is the 3rd increase since the car's debut.

The first increase was buried (not disguised - I say BURIED) in the addition of the USB and USB/Safety Connect additions to the NAV package cars. Those were pretty pricy when paired together.

We had another $400 jump about 7-8 weeks ago to all Prius (incoming cars after October)... and again they announce a $400 more increase in mid January.

Know what I think? I'm gonna tell you even if you don't....!
I thought it was underpriced by about $1,000 to 1200 when it made its debut in late May 2009. Based on the 2009 new car pricing, it was too cheap. Especially the II and III models. I think they were concerned with competition from Honda's Insight which hadn't had an opportunity to be seen and experienced or compared. When it became clear that Insight ain't no Prius, Senator... (I hope you smarties get that remark) ... they are just catching up slowly to where the car should have been priced.

Do I like a $35,000 Prius with no sunroof? Much as I like a Prius IV with sunroof for $32K that has plastic wheel covers.

    Merry Christmas.

The USB/Safety Connect associated price increase is not really a price increase since its value added (Although one might not put much value in the additional features).

The previous $400 and the next $400 increases are definitely eye-opening and I'm glad I got mine already :). I actually had a chance to get a vehicle that was prior to the increases that was still in inventory from the Dealer that sold me mine but turned it down to get my Blizzard Pearl since that was the color I liked. The Dealer was kind enough to increase the discount which is a win-win for us both because I'm sure he wouldn't have discounted much on the other one.

Having said my piece above the pricing increases does put strain on mainstreaming the car and out of budget of some buyers. The car is well worth it after putting almost 1000 miles on it and prior to buying with a serious consideration of a Honda Insight (Which is way underpowered by the way).
