The JBL system sounded good, but I still wanted more bass. Today I decided to install the Infinity Basslink 200W Powered 10" Subwoofer I had in my last car. I decided to copy the "mounting with velcro" idea I saw elsewhere on this forum while also securing it to a cargo hook. The amp is fairly big so I couldn't think of a particularly good place to put it where it wouldn't get in the way.
This was my first ever car audio installation and took about 3-4 hours. I am not an audiophile, but it sounds amazing to me and I now have that phat bass I was looking for!
Please look at the file names of the pictures as I added descriptions of what's going on. Let me know if you have any questions, or constructive criticism. Thanks also to KK6PD for his 2009 JBL Audio schematic that I used as a guide for this installation.

Shouldn't this be in the electronics section though? :p

I flagged it w/ the request. Great pics!

Where did you tap the remote line for the amp?

Thanks guys. It was a pretty easy install especially having the power connections all in the back. I didn't have to run a remote line for the sub as it senses voltage on the speaker wires to turn itself on, then turns off a minute or two after power goes away. It looks like there is a remote/accessory wire on the smaller white connector (labeled S 15 on my picture) of the JBL amp, but fortunately I didn't have to figure out which one to use. All I needed to do other than power was splice into the 8 wires for the front and rear speakers. The one last thing to figure out is a good spot to mount the remote bass adjust but I'm thinking I'll probably mount it in the console under the shifter.

Is that the Canadian OEM backup camera and screen I see in the rear view mirror?

Yes it is, comes on the Premium Package up here. It's small but has a good clear picture and I'm finding it quite useful, especially now that the windows are tinted out. :)

I also want to add my Basslink to the my JBL system. I got this 2010 JBL system chart from Crutchfield and the PIN #'s are different from yours. Is the left white plug the front woofer wires (light green RF+ Pin 14, blue RF- Pin 18, pink LF+ Pin 20, Violate LF- Pin 19)?

What happens when you disconnect the groung from the battery? Will I lose all computer settings?

How did you tap the + on the battery - do you have pics of that connection? What did you use to connect at the battery terminal?

I don't know what to tell you about the Crutchfield pin outs, they may be wrong. On my car the pins and wire colours were exactly as shown on my drawings. You should go check on your car what wires are in which pin on each connector and see which schematic is right for you.

As for disconnecting the battery, I didn't. It's no fun working without live power, haha! I just made sure the JBL was powered off the whole time and worked very carefully when doing the battery connections.

Rrolff, in the third to last picture of my first post you can see all my powers connections. I attached the sub's power with a terminal lug to the small post with the nut on the side of the battery + and secured it in. If you lift up the red cover off the battery terminal you'll see where I mean. I cheated with the ground connection and just screwed into the cargo hook. I was going to find a better ground but it seems to have worked nicely since then so I haven't bothered.

You are right - Crutchfield is wrong.
Did adding the basslink make a big difference to the stock JBL system?
I installed the basslink in my other cars and I only connected the speaker wires to one set of speakers not all four and it worked fine.

Made a big, big difference. It's really too bass-y now and I generally keep it turned way down. I considered only hooking up the 2 front speaker wires but figured what the hell, hook 'em all up. I'm still trying to figure out what, if any, impact it has on MPG, as you can see my mileage numbers aren't so good. Could be alot of things though, snow tires, shortish commute, cold temps...

I didn't have to take the seat out, and the whole install only took an hour or two. What do you mean by amp cover? The whole Sub box is mounted on an aluminum plate that has industrial velcro on the bottom that clings well to the carpet as well as a large cable tie to the cargo hook.

The JBL AMP under the seat has a black plastic cover around the entire AMP, how did you remove the the black plastic cover?

Derrr, oh yeah, "amp" cover, graveyard shift is messing with my brain. From the back seat, you should see 2 circle shaped tabs on the top of the black cover (I think there are only 2 anyway, it was 6 months ago now.) You need to pry these circles up enough with a flat blade screwdriver to pop them up from the amp mounting and then the whole thing just pulls off, with a bit of force.
