Engine light's up&warning light's up,engine went off.what's the problem?

    i had a prius 2002 this april as a used car (had 98,890 km done on it). since this week, when i start the car in the morning, warmed up, 5 seconds on, the engine light and master warning light are up same time, engine goes off. the second try will be the same. pull key out, start the third time, it drives on no problem, the engine light will not be on, but the master light is on all the way to my work which is about 1hr driving in a rush hour traffic.:mad:

    it only does once a day. checked eveything i could, have no idea.:confused: my mechanic doesn't know what i am talking about.

    can someone help or someone out there has the silimar problem?

    Suggest that you replace the 12V auxiliary battery.

    Probably so. Can you measure the battery voltage? If it's less than 12.0V when the car is off, then that's the problem.

    nope, checked the 12V battery, it's fine. now the problem is getting worse, the car does the same thing still, but after the first time engine's off, it won't start again within the 5 times of turning the key. and it will keep on and off. it's not drivable:Cry::Cry:

    How old is the 12v battery? When hooked up to a charger how long does it take to show fully charged? Will it start with the charger plugged in? What is the "fine" voltage?

    Is that mechanic a Toyota dealer? If not, take it to a dealer. They have proprietary diagnostic equipment. (If he is, take it to a different dealer.)
