    Have you noticed...

The rear windows on the Prius have that "Lexus" feature where when the windows are rolling up... they slow down when nearing the top, but the front windows don't?

Or is it just my Prius? :(

They sure do have that Lexus feature... I think it was first posted by Tideland Prius when he saw the car in action at the Detroit unveiling back in early 2009.

(If it was Evan or Rick sorry but I do think it was Tideland who noticed it and posted about it)

The question is... why only the back windows, and not the front windows as well?

Don't know the reason... I was just trying to find Tidelands original post about it, and could not find it, but others including Danny noticed/were wondering the same thing... I've wondered the same thing since I purchased the car as well.

Thanks Paradox... I guess it's not just me. I'd venture to say Toyota decided save some cash and put a cheaper motor in front. But now I wonder if any Gen3 Prius ever had all 4 windows with the "Lexus" type motors?

I'm glad the driver window close as fast as possible when there is -22°F outside and I need to open the window to pay at toll booth.

Yes I did expect to get a response... but not from you.

And if you actually read the five (5) responses on the thread, or were able to infer, the real question is "why do only the back windows have the "Lexus" feature, and not the front windows."

Go PawSox! I hate to tell everyone on the right coast that it will be 73F today... it makes it tough to figure out if I wear a hoodie sweatshirt and shorts, or just keep the windows rolled up?

Who am I kidding, the Prius stays in the garage, and the convertible is coming out to play!

Anyone out there try the Jam Protection feature?? Just curious...
As for the rear window's on the Prius, how or what is it about the Lexus feature on these rear windows that was incorporated into the Prius?

I used to have a LS400 years ago, but don't recall....

Is it a safety feature, enhanced motors, other?

    Thanks!
    Bob :)

The rear windows slow down as it nears the top or bottom during opening/closing so they don't 'thud'... Open and close your rear windows and you'll see how they slow down right before closing or opening all the way.

That is the question being asked by the OP and as I have said, I do not know. In the reply you quoted me on I was answering someones question as to what about the lexus feature was incorporated into the Prius.

The NCF guide says it's to minimize noise at both extremes of travel. Look in the "Obscure facts" thread. I think I also have a much older thread (pre-release) that talks about it as well.
