I'll apologize up front if this is not the appropriate forum to post this.

I want to pass along a very unpleasant experience I've had trying to order a HeatShield for my Prius. :cussing: I placed an order online and got an order confirmation from those turkeys but nothing ever showed up. When I emailed them they said my order was cancelled because it never was entered correctly online. I explained, and forwarded, the email confirmation of my order and they said they had a glitch in the system.

However, and this is what really gets me steamed, here's what the company president said in response:

"With so many hardware and software variations out there, problems happen. I'm sorry about that, but I've noticed with interest that my website is not alone in the fact that it exhibits imperfections from time to time. For example, I have personally encountered billing, ordering and shipping problems on the following websites during the last year:

    amazon.com
    llbean.com
    bose.com
    southwest.com
    united.com

You have asked for free shipping in order to make the ordering
problems right for you. I'm sorry, but shipping has become too
    expensive to do that."

Talk about poor customer service! I responded to this lame excuse by pointing out that shipping was only going to be $5.95, or at least that was what I had listed in my order confirmation email from this company. :guns:

So my recommendation is to not even attempt to order from these turkeys, online or otherwise.

So let's see if I understand here ... You had a problem with a vendor. The vendor's problem that caused your problem was with a software glitch. You believe that you were wronged and that the vendor, in return, should pay for the shipping of your ordered product (effectively - providing a discount).

The vendor has stated that he chooses to not do this.

It looks to me like you're not satisfied with that answer and so, in order to get even, you have decided to trash the vendor's name here on this internet forum. Am I reading this correctly?

I ordered mine online on March 11 and it arrived on March 15 and that was over the weekend. Pretty good service as far as I am concerned. I would recommend them.

I ordered two at the same time, one for my Prius and one for my Sienna. Both shields showed up in just a few days. No problems, no complaints.

I guess I've had some really bad experiences with various merchants before but I'd hardly consider your case compelling. I'd still do business with this merchant based on what you described.

I ordered one for my anticipated Prius after dealer said it was on the water on its way to L.A. port. Also ordered one for a 1992 Ford Van. Both came on the day my Prius arrived at the dealer, picked up my Driftwood #9 that night. Both Heatshields fit perfectly. I do find I have to roll it up outside the car, though, but it does keep the car quite cool.

Yes and no. This is a customer service issue, and poor customer service at that. I told the president of the company that I would relate this poor experience to warn others and was given his understanding. At least I know I've done all I can from a dissatisfied customer standpoint.

I don't believe my intent was to "trash" the vendor's name, but to report a bad experience. Choosing the internet to do so was my intent, just like others have done with respect to unscrupulous Toyata dealerships and excessive mark-ups.

I am glad for the others who received their orders without a glitch.

If you want to discuss this further then I suggest we take this off-line.

I have ordered 5 heat shields on 3 different occasions. No problems, great product, good fit.

If it's any cosolation to you, if it was my company, I would have given you the free shipping.

    Nate -

Yes, actually there is some consolation in that. I would have done the same if it were my company as well. Glad to hear you've had no problems with all of you orders. I do like the way they fit and will have to let go of a bunch on anger before I consider buying one. Definitely not on-line or direct from the company.

Alright, I can save you a buck or two. Order the sunshade from Grapevine Toyota.

    www.toyota-parts.com

The Prius isn't in their vehicle accessory list, but I bet if you call them it would only cost $22.50; that's the price online for all their other sunshades. (The one I ordered from them for my Camry was indeed from Canvasworks.) They want 10.50 for shipping, but I suspect they'll ship it ground for a little less. Anyway, I've had good luck with them over 10 times, including one return, and one impossible to find part (discontinued 98 4runner alarm fit kit) that they managed to track down and piece together for me.

At least you'll have the satisfaction that less money went to CanvasWorks!

    :)
