Today I drove from the Frankfurt area to the Netherlands, about 3.5 hours. Parked the car in the driveway. When my wife came home about 3 hours later, she said, hey, I think your brakelights are on. Went downstairs, car would not start, very faint buzzing whiny noise. Called the ANWB (AAA over here) and guy came out, jumped it, but now I have no display on the right side of the dashboard. Does that mean I just need to drive it more to charge, or is something terribly wrong? Car starts now, gasoline engine kicks in now and then when just sitting in driveway, etc. as per normal. Have not been on road yet. Let me know what you think? Thanks

is its possible to leave your headlights on in a gen 3 prius?
maybe you drained your 12 volt battery?
maybe a fuse is blown? because you dont have your right dashboard light
let us know when you have found the problem

It is possible to leave the headlights on for the Gen III. That was my first thought when the wife saw the tailights on. I believe if you turn the headlights on after you have powered down, then they will stay on. If they are on when you power down, then they will turn off automatically after 30 seconds or so. At least that is how the NA versions work.

This may be an obvious question that you have already tried, but what happens when you press the Display button on the steering wheel. You can turn the right hand display off from a Settings Menu selected by the Display button. By chance, maybe the setting defaulted to display off when you drained the 12V battery and needs to be turned back on??

Don't think it is possible to leave the lights on. I thought they were set to automatically turn off after a set time. Yes, I think the 12v battery was drained, but still don't understand not having the right side of the display now.

Not sure if the RHD European model is different to the LHD model you have, but I can leave my lights on after powering the car off. The car will buzz away if you open the door. Mine will switch from headlights to just side lights when I hit the power button without switching the lights off. Guess that's so you can leave the car illuminated when parked on unlit roads.

Not sure why half your dash is unlit unless you have something in the way of the projector (like a parking disc or an envelope etc). Otherwise if sounds a bit worrying to me. Would recommend a trip to a local dealer.
