so maybe thats what happend here to. a pickup with no wieght and a speed to match it. maybe got iritated about the prius driver wanting to pas him.?
I think there are some people that just hate hybrids for some reason. A friend of mine who owns a pre owned Mercedes dealer was alway ragging on me for about my wife wanting to buy a Prius, when MB announced they would have two hybrids by 2012, a S class and an E class with the Blutec diesel I said to him that I guess you will have to find out about hybrids so you can sell them. He answered he would never have a hybrid on his lot, his reason is that he doesn't like them, wait till customers come in and ask for them I am sure he will change his tune. Never has he said why he doesn't like them it's like when you were a kid and asked your parents why you could not do something and they would answer, because. Some answer. Some people just hate change, where I live now if you mention how to do something another way the say,"We don't care how you did it up North or We have alway done it this way. But around here there is a plethora of Prius cars so just maybe things are changing.
they fear something different there is no need to fear a hybrid....unless you want to mod the powertrain for more power then you're screwed
It's mostly political. Having a hybrid means you are "likely" to be a tree-hugger or believer in human caused global warming. It's a new form of political road rage. I have conservative engineer type friends who would be really interested in the technology but look away when you bring it up. They can't bring themselves to consider that there might be a problem with carbon and the environment and resent you for reminding them.
Yesterday, driving up I-5 from Portland, I had an Oregon Prius get on my bumper and ride until I moved over to the right (I had to wait until I had a clear spot to do so - I was passing some trucks), then he went by, TALKING ON HIS CELL PHONE, and he hung on the bumper of the next car, until they moved TO THE LEFT, and he moved up to the next vehicle. I'm serious, he was less than a car length away. At 70 mph. Come on, people... let's NOT make people hate us by being jerks on the highway. :nono:
Thing is there are people driving every sort of car doing these things, Prius, Ford, Nissan. Some folks do definitely have issues with Prius because of what it stands for and how they feel about themselves. It is convenient for them to forget the Ford Fusion or the Chevy Silvarado who drove the same way as that Prius driver. Nor do they see or mention the Prius driver that passed them and kept on going with out a backward glance. It's just the way some very unhappy people live.
Dude... if you're a yank, you'll always be a yank to someone in NC. Because "YOU TOOK RRRR JOBS!!?!?!!". I live in a development that's mostly folks from the North East, and the land owner/developer (if given the choice) would not have sold to us. Except, the guy needed money bad... had kidney issues. He just did not like us, and wanted nothing to do with the owners after the sales were closed.
So true, you are more aware of the bad drivers - mainly b/c your Prius is at risk I live in a tourist town and it is quite a challenge here. So glad I grew up in NY and learned how to be a defensive driver. Vacationed in San Diego this year and couldn't believe how Prius were on the road there! Less "Pruis haters" there I imagine
i laugh at people who drive full size trucks who are not construction workers or are employed in any kind of job where they have an excuse to need such a fuel hungry vehicle. i laugh at them more than i do at hummer drivers because at least they're not fooling themselves with the fuel costs.
'scuse me for intruding into your conversation but... Why? because the more air they polute for no reason, the more foul air we breath, that's why! There should be laws controlling who's allowed to drive what class of vehicles based on his/her needs, not on his/her wants. For occasional/ exceptional needs one can always rent a Hummer/pickup truck for a day. Whoever drives a poluter all year long should be put in jail for attempted murder (on people with breathing difficulties).
I like your reasoning, but first, well in my opinion, get all the two cycle engines out of the water, everywhere.
Last I check we were still in a free country! And even though it appears we're headed toward socialism, why rush it!
Last I checked our "free" countries were free to shoot anybody with their cowboy guns a couple of hundred years ago. It's not that "free" to do that anymore. Why? Are we heading towards "socialism" by reducing mass murdering?
