When I drive my Prius for longer than about 30 minutes, my right foot and my leg, up into the thigh, become numb. This is not only annoying, but also a safety concern because my feel for the accelerator and brake is diminished.

Is this an issue with the seat? (I notice the seat extends pretty far down my thighs). Is there some way to resolve the problem by adjusting the seat? Or are there other causes for and solutions to this problem.

I'd try lowering it a little first. If that's no help raise it a little.
Not sure if either will help but worth a try.

If nothing helps, see a doctor at once as this could be a sign of a bigger problem.

Take your big fat wallet out of your right rear pocket! Seriously - my big fat wallet caused that sort of problem.

hmm, I thought everyone's wallet was quite a bit thinner after taking delivery of their new car from their dealer....

Actually, some good input here. I found that I needed more thigh support from the seat as the support was poor for me. I lifted the front of the driver's seat mounts to tilt the front lower cushion up about 1/2". That bit of extra "tilt" made a huge difference.

I've had a similar problem in the past with my Previa and in other cars without sufficient thigh support for my long legs.
I just finished a 5500 km trip in our 2010 Prius with no problems. I believe that it is the extra leg room and adjustable height/slope of the drivers seat base that saved the day. I would have preferred a bit more lumbar support but the lack of it did not cause a problem.

As far as support is concerned, the OP is stating that the seat goes *farther* down his thigh than most seats. This is not indicative of too little support, but perhaps support at the wrong angle, or a pressure point.

I'd start by adjusting the seat position.

Can anyone suggest adding a lumbar support?

On long trips it will help since I have a herniated disk and would require better support. The IV was out of my price range which included lumbar.

Ok, but if the 2010 has a vertical rear mount bolt like the 'Gen2' left rear, seems like a mount foot could get bent from doing this. And that could get really expensive ... to fix. Some say, just loosen the mount bolt. O. K. But doesn't seem smart to just loosen a mount bolt when they are to be torqued to about 27 lb-ft.

The 2010 seat bottom makes a lot of tilt with the height adjuster full down. Strange it would need more.

A flattish seat bottom is an 04 - 09 Prius driver's seat. But one would never know it when 5'4" or SLT.

Like others have said, adjust the seat. Seems like you may have tried that already. Then get to a doctor.
