Smart Key Function Change

    Greetings!

    Today my spouse unlocked and started the Prius the usual way, with the smart key fob in her purse. She shut off and locked everything when she arrived at her destination. When she was ready to return, the car would not unlock when she touched the door handle, she had to use the putton on the fob. She also had to insert the fob in the slot to get the vehicle to power up. Any ideas on why the function on the smart key changed? The car is a 2008 model, we have had it since September 2007.

    That happened to me once, but it cleared itself.

    She should, however, double check that the SKS button under the dash is set correctly. It's possible that she somehow bumped it and unwittingly turned off the SKS.
