    Hello,

New poster and new Prius owner here :) I Recently purchased a used 06' Prius and I am trying to figure out what my options are for hooking up my Ipod.

I've browsed through the forums and have seen similar threads, but I am unable to find exactly what I'm looking for. (if you can show me something I missed that works too, but I definitely appreciate your thoughts!)

I am unsure which Prius package my car is. It is an 06' w/ leather seats, but surprisingly it seems to have the base stereo with no aux spot in the center console (only the lighter/power supply). Am I completely missing something here, or was this just an option that wasn't part of the leather seat package?

Ideally I would like my Ipod to be integrated with the screen display as well as the steering wheel controls. I have heard about the DICE units and it sounds like they would do the trick, however my local installer isn't familiar with them. Alternatively, does the base stereo have a spot that I could do an Aux-in on it, or should I just upgrade the stereo? The installers made it sound like they wouldn't be able to add an Aux cable since my stereo doesn't have a "SAT/AUX" button.

They suggested hard wiring some kind of FM Modulator (not the cheap portable kind) - they said it would sound as good as my best FM channel.. which does not appeal to me. I would highly prefer at least CD quality sound.

Budget is kind of limited to the $200-300 range, but the installer quoted a new head unit//aux/install/ at like $400-450. Reputable car audio dealer/installer in southern Maine - not many others in the area to get quotes from or work done at. There is always Best Buy... but yeah...

    Any thoughts or suggestions? :)

If you found the power outlet inside the center console, the AUX adapter (audio input jack) is to the right of it.

See page 2 of this 2007 Prius Owner's Manual:

Check the DICE install instruction thread for an easy way to reach the back of your head unit (via the glove box). See if it has an AUX in port or not to allow the use of a DICE or other similar iPod accessory. If you can use one, it's a much better way to do it than the headphone jack port.
