Just to make things easy, in case anyone doesn't know:

    nuance |ˈn(y)oōˌäns|
    noun
a subtle difference in or shade of meaning, expression, or sound : the nuances of facial expression and body language.
verb [ trans. ] (usu. be nuanced)
give nuances to : the effect of the music is nuanced by the social situation of listeners.
ORIGIN late 18th cent.: from French, ‘shade, subtlety,’ from nuer ‘to shade,’ based on Latin nubes ‘cloud.’

Aw, c'mon, nuance isn't a $10 word. As in, this here can of Shlitz has one fine hops nuance.

Looks like I've been mispronouncing it all my life -- I say NEW-onts. Ah, tomato, tomahto.

That's actually very interesting, and I did not know that. Thank you for posting it.

I find it bizarre they would allow opinion pieces (or other such grey literature) in their document.

We should not let this take away from the fact that the Himalayan thing was a completely made up fact.

For anyone who didn't understand the IPCC report / Himalayan glacier thing, this is how it went:

The IPCC report quoted a statement from the WWF. The WWF statement was a quote from a New Scientist article. The New Scientist article was a paraphrased interview with a glaciologist who was speaking off hand about a paper he had coming up. He claims he was misquoted. (Even "alarmist" scientific papers say the Himalayan glaciers would take hundreds of years to melt.)

    Insanity.

    Crumble, crumble, crumble!

Gate du Jour – Now it’s Greenpeace reports in the IPCC AR4 Watts Up With That?

    Some great comments about this:

Its getting so bad that anything that comes out of the IPCC doesnt even deserve to be called science anymore.

I have this nagging suspicion that they knew they were going to get busted and Copenhagen was a last stitch effort on their part to ram legislation through. Thank God it didnt work

    Yup!

ClimateGate broke right before, and since then it's been a huge downhill rollercoaster! It's just hilarious this "rock solid scientific document" is full of opinion/agenda pieces. How on earth do you reference a Greenpeace article? LOL!

Every day when I read the latest news about some huge IPCC lie, it's like Christmas.

For example... I just got back from a Mardi Gras ball with my smoking hot fiance, and I check WUWT and look what I see:

IPCC Gate Du Jour: UN climate change panel based claims on student dissertation and magazine article Watts Up With That?

^^ I mean, that is FREAKING HILARIOUS. It almost has to be a joke. It's even more funny, because certain people on this forum like to pull the 'ol "appeal to authority" and act like the only people qualified to speak about this are PhDs. I have an M.D., I'm more qualified than a lot of the people that the IPCC quotes! The above shows the IPCC quoted a climbing magazine and someone studying for their masters! LOL

    If thats not enough ....

IPCC now in Bizarroland: Pachauri releases “smutty” romance novel Watts Up With That?

The head of the IPCC is writing SMUT novels!

So, considering the last couple of weeks, we see the head of the IPCC - *the* organization that is setup by the U.N. to write a rock solid study that is going to convince the world that global warming is occuring - we see it be found out that he knew the IPCC included fake data in their report, we see that he writes porn novels, we see the IPCC quote opinion pieces and agenda articles, and we see them quote masters students and climbing magazines.

What a joke. What a freaking joke.
