Has anyone been able to get a 1st gen iPhone to pair both phone and music?

Or is a 3G or later required to pair both?

    Thanks

Sorry to revive this old thread:

What's the last word on Prius III, without NAV, and iPhone 3Gs and Bluetooth features?

Can I use the phonebook on the iPhone? or will I have to define a separate ohone book on the Prius?

Can I stream (A2DP) music from the iPhone to the Prius III?

    Thanks.

I was wondering the exact same thing as Aloke Prasad--what's the latest on using an iPhone 3Gs on a Prius III without NAV. Can you only use it for phone functions with bluetooth? Does bluetooth streaming still require the Nav option?

Yes, BT streaming requires NAV. As does the transfer of the phone address-book to the Prius. Without NAV, you have to define a separate list of phone # on the Prius. However, you can use the BT phone handsfree transfers without NAV.

Thanks for the update. So what are the main options for streaming audio from the iPhone 3GS on the Prius III without Nav? Is it just the aux jack? Or is it worth getting the Nav option (don't really need GPS and figured if I did I would just get a portable GPS--trying to be cheap here)?

If Bluetooth streaming is not a solution for you, then I'd suggest staying away from Toyota's USB solution, and their AUX solution. I've seen better 3rd party now that I have installed their USB kit. Which by the way I'm very disappointed in. Toyota's control of an iPod or iPhone is crude at best. Some of the third party solutions have done some very nice user interfaces and they are even cheaper than Toyota's solution.
I have the NAV and would NEVER recommend someone buying the NAV just for audio input. Much too expensive a solution.

I'd suggest you check out a few local car radio shops and see what they can hook you up with. Without having to get expensive.

Since upgrading my Prius with the USB kit, I've upgraded the audio in the cars of two of my daughters. Both have a better, less expensive, solution for playing iPod/iPhone. (In their cases, what we got would not fit in a Prius, but there are solutions available for Prius.)

The LiquidAux looks cool, but how are you guys mounting the iPhone? Can you make the LiquidAux work with something like the ProClip mounting system?

Pause the podcast before your power off the car. I've tried it on music and it starts where I left off. I don't do podcasts, but give it a shot.

My iPhone does not jump back to the beginning. This is with the nav bluetooth.
I think it might go back by 30 seconds or so, but that is OK as the last thing before turning off the car is parking it and while parking I don't pay much attention to the podcast.

You guys are responding to an old post. The new firmware of the iPhone fixed the playing from the begining bug.

Do anyone know how I can upload my iphone 3g contacts to my 2010 Prius III w/o nav? It appears that there is a transfer by phone choice under add entry for phone book in the menu but there is no instruction on how to do it via iphone. Prius manual asks me to consult my phone manual and I can't find it in my iphone manual. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Hmm so A2DP and phone worked simultaneously for you with the iPhone 3GS. I experienced that either the A2DP or the phone function can be paired, but not both simultaneously. I was quite disappointed with this. I'll go back out and test some more.

Yes, both work at the same time. If I'm listening to podcasts, I don't mind using Bluetooth streaming but if I'm listening to music then the sound quality is not consistant. When I switch over to the USB cable the sound difference is noticable.

Hi I have a 2010 Prius IV with solar roof and navigation. I got the iPhone 3G to make and receive calls and got the BT audio streaming to work. But when I try to transfer contacts it says failed each time.

Is there some trick to transferring the contacts?

No problem transfering contacts with my iPhone 3G and I've done it many times.
