Some massive weather is coming guys!

National Weather Service Watch Warning Advisory Summary

I've heard predictions for up to 32-34 inches of snow. Stay safe and stay warm!

(So much for the climate predictions that snow falls would become a thing of the past!)

Warmer air holds more water vapor, thus the heaviest snowfalls occur at temps just below freezing.

Anyone who thinks that a heavy snow in Washington in February proves that there is no global warming is either ignorant or stupid. Only one of these is curable.

    radioprius1,

On behalf of all citizens of the Greater Ballamer-Wash'tun Region, thank you
for you concern and kind words -- from halfway 'round the world no less! :cheer2:

FWIW, January and February are the months when Ballamer gets its
highest snowfalls, 7.0 and 6.4 inches respectively. Average annual
    Snowfall all-winter is 18+ a few tenths.

Right now we're eagerly  awaiting figures from NOAA as to whether the
current mess sets the record for the largest single storm snowfall total,
28.5 inches. At any rate it will be the second largest snowfall,
missing the record by only a few tenths of an inch, ~a millimeter or two.

It has nothing to do with the environment that parts of the U.S. are getting perhaps the most snow ever?

    Total freak out:

By the way, the global warming hypothesis predicts that winters and snowfall will become a "thing of the past."

Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past - Environment - The Independent

So, yes, a record snowfall when it is predicted that snowfalls are supposed to become a thing of the past goes against the idea. So, those of you who like to just insult people, do some reading.

The article is actually rather humorous. They state that snowfalls will become a thing of the past, but then they go on to state that snowfalls will still happen, and then add an alarmist element to it.

These sorts of things are hilarious, because they are just as ridiculous as the global warming hypothesis. Global warming believers think that high temps, low temps, wet weather, and dry weather are all "consistent" with the hypothesis. Basically, anything that occurs fits. It's such a joke.

I'm not a climatologist, but there was an interesting item on NPR earlier in the week that attributed our weather on the East Coast (I'm in Ballamer, too) to El Niño. The piece stated that El Niño was especially violent this year (i.e., lots of moisture) because the temperature of the Pacific Ocean is 2 degrees (didn't say whether Celsius of Fahrenheit, which we still use here in the U.S.) HIGHER than average. If this is accurate, today's storm is consistent with the global warming theory.

Everything is consistent with the global warming hypothesis. Sure, global temperatures have been declining slowly since 1998, and sure, Arctic sea ice is above or equal to what it was 2 years ago, and sure, Antarctic sea ice is growing, but that doesn't mean that the earth isn't warming at catastrophic rates!!! Oh, wait, yes it does mean that it isn't rising at catastrophic rates.

Now, we blame every type of weather on global warming. If it snows, we blame global warming. If it doesn't snow, we blame global warming. If it storms, we blame global warming. I keep waiting for people to blame the Haiti earthquake on global warming.

(Global warming is not a theory - it is a non-testable hypothesis.)

Ah I remember the days when climate was exactly 30 years no more no less. Now it is one weekend, how soon they forget.

Kinda funny that everytime it snows, the people who do not know the difference between weather and climate, get all excited that climate change theory has been disproven:rolleyes:

Just what we needed ANOTHER thread about climate change....

It is because RadioPruis1 is the Charlie Babbit of climate change,, he had one thought, and he thinks if he repeats it over and over and over, with the same charts and graphs it will magically come true!

    Five minutes to Wapner,,,,!

Though I hate to feed you anything ---
You must have missed the item in Newsweek a few years back, quoting -- without comment or disclaimer -- someone who blamed the post-Christmas Indonesian tsunami on global warming.

While the DC area is getting snowed again, out here in the Pacific Northwest we are continuing the warm streak that just gave us our warmest January ever, about 6F above average. Despite a nasty cold snap in December and a hefty rate increase, my heating (all-electric) bill is waaayyyy down, far more than expected from this new high-efficiency heat pump.

    Yea well,

Then there Pat Robertson blaming the earthquake on the idea that Haitian's had "sold their soul to the devil and this was god's retribution" So I guess there are people who will believe anything!

Haha, this place is becoming absurd huh? The warmists here love to insult, but hate facts. It's called denial.

I believe you also said "Everyday I look at our current government and contemplate moving. I could just move my money to another bank, move down to Mexico, buy a mansion, and rot in the sun."

Might I suggest that if you don't like the company here, you are welcome to find a locale that better suits your particular temperament.
