Things to do or not to do right away?

    After 8 months of waiting out turn, we will finally be picking up our Prius in about a week and a half. Of course, we`re absolutely thrilled and cannot wait. We have a nice leisurely road trip planned the week after to sort of break things in.

    For those who bought a 2010 - what are some things (accessories) that you bought and found indispensable? What are some things that you bought and didn`t need at all? How about basic modifications?

    We have already bought custom mats (floor and cargo) and have bought a third party navigation system (much better, nicer, and cheaper than the package offered). At this point though, that is it.

    Is there anything we should definitely pick up or have the dealer do?
    We are concerned about cup holders - our current car has one on each side just below the vents. Should we look into clip ones for the vents in the Prius?
    Are the windows prone to steaming up - do we need a mini sponge thing for the inside? (Our first car did)

    Is a shark fin antenna worth it? My husband wants one, but I personally think it looks silly with the way it is rounded at the bottom, like it is just sticking to the car.
    The model we have ordered (S) doesn`t have the underside cover - is there anything we should have done like rust protection etc because it is not there?

    I've recently taken delivery of a Prius. I haven't bought anything extra as the car is pretty well loaded. To answer some of your questions:

    • The cup holders (2 of them) are in the central armrest, IMO clip on holders would ruin the clean lines of the dashboard. There are also cup holders in the doors (pretty well useless for anything else, apart from keeping a screen sponge!)
    • The windows can steam up but not as bad as I have had in other cars. The dedicated front window demist button soon takes care of that though and I haven't had to resort to a sponge yet.
    • The stubby antenna looks just fine to me. I'm not sure what benefits a shark fin would bring.
